Interview in the morning few questions

Howdy,

Jeanette has her interview in the morning and wanted to know if she needed all of the I-29F paperwork we originally sent to California service center, the biographic info and everything or just what was on the Vancouver consulate check list. Also, she went to the consulate tonight just to see where it was and the guard said that she will need to line up for her K1 visa, she explicitly said she had an appointment for a K1 visa and they still said she has to line up in the morning. Does that sound a little strange to anyone else?

Thanks for the help!

I have mine tomorrow at Vancouver as well. 10 am.

I'm sure we need to bring a copy of the original I-129F application.

I don't think we need to line up in the morning. From the forums as well as my experience when going there to pick up Packet 3, you can just talk to the guard and tell them you're there for a K1 interview at <blank> time and they send you up.

That's my 2 cents! Good luck and hope to see you there!!

Cheers,

Bhu

Hey Bhu!

Thanks for the quick response! It really helps! What hotel are you staying at ? Jeanette is excited someone else from VJ is going to be there! What time are you planning on showing up at the consulate in the morning? It would be nice to have someone there sharing the interview experience for moral support.

Hi guys,

I didn't have a copy of the I-129F petition and you don't need one. They asked for the following(in this order) and that's it:

-passport

-photographs(print name on back)

-OF 156/DS-156

-DS-156K

-birth certificate (long form)

-marriage certificate

-termination of all previous marriages

-police certificate(s)

-court records (where applicable)

-affidavit of support

-medical

During the interview itself, he asked to see some photos and some boarding passes. So basically you just need the above and some evidence of your relationship.

You don't have to line up. Show up 15-20 minutes before hand and go up to the doors(the guards are inside, not outside like I thought they would be) with your letter and passport in hand. The guards will let you right in.

Good luck for you both, everything will be fine!

Good luck to both of you tomorrow!! I brought a copy of my original 129 F package, but it wasn't needed. I was there 3 weeks ago, and there is a sign that says...10:00 a.m. appointments line up here....but I ignored it (thanks to previous VJ'ers who told me otherwise) and went right up to the door where the guards were, showed them my appointment letter, passport, and away I went! We'll be anxiously awaiting the results of your interviews tomorrow!

Hope ya al slept well. Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Good luck for you both and look forward to your update later today.

Hi Mercy

Thanks for posting the list of basically what they'll be wanting

I was wondering about what they would be aking for at that time

One question for anybody that has already gotten to the interview stage

Is it a requirement to fill any of those DS 156 forms out online and also take

a printed copy with you to the interview

I thought I read somewhere awhile back they required a version to be filled

online for thier records along with printed ones you take for the interview

I know I have awhile yet to go but I like knowing what to expect ahead of time :)

I wish Lorry and I had found this site when we first started our application.

We've discovered things we didn't know and been helped vastly by the many fine

people here

Thanks You all

Allie

The list is directly from the sheet they give you when you walk through security in Vancouver. I dunno if I was supposed to give it back, but I tucked it away so I should share it with VJ :P

I don't know what forms Montreal requires to be filled out online, but I did them all that way. If you fill them out online, you must take a copy of them because they need the barcode that's generated to access the information(I think that's how it works, someone correct me?).

Hi

I went to this interview back in may 2006. But in Denmark

All the papers was sended to me and no doubt about what they needed.

Beforehand somebody told me that when you enter the embassy please don't have any carry on.

I heard about a guy who had a rucksack with personally stuff because of a stay on a hotel.

They didn't let him in and gave him a new appointment.

I thought it was good for you to know this.

Would be such a shame to be ignored for such an innocent thing.

I wish you very good luck to this interview.

Sweetie
