The embassy has been going through some changes with how they process visas. I have seen posts lately from other VJ'ers saying the CO did not take their passport until they received the missing documents, and later received instructions to return to the embassy with the passport. Administrative Review means that once they receive the poper documents, the check them for accuracy, authenticity, etc.... I know it is very stressful, especially since the IV unit stinks with how they communicate with applicants. Be polite and continue to email them asking if they have received documents, need anything further, etc. After two months you can have your congresspersonsenator submit a congressional/senatorial inquiry.

Is there a reason why you suggested waiting 2 months before asking congress-person to do an inquiry Beancamp? I'm wondering what's the average length of time for AP/ AR in Jamaica. I keep hearing that there's no specific timeframe but I wonder if anyone ever waited more than 2 months.

Most congressional offices will not initiate anything unless the standard 60 days have elasped. There is no timeframe for AP. In Jamaica, most were in and out within 2 months. However, this seems to no longer be the case. Since March, the embassy has seem to change their process which has added time. I'm not sure about your particular situation, but I can tell you if your case requires additional review you can bet it is in a different queue and thus why it is taking longer to process. I had the pleasure of messaging with a V'Jer who offered some insight into how immigrant visas are processed. The individual explained often times there is a regional CO who does all the investigations. This is usually one person and us usually ex-military. So imagine one person doing all the files that required additional investigations (AP). COs are the only ones who can determine eligibility for the visa. Now mix this process with an embassy who recently was busted for taking bribes in exchange for issuing visas to an entertainer and you have a long and drained out processed. I don't agree this is justified as in the end we all want to be reunited with our loved ones. It just adds to an already complicated process, which unfortunately is being paid for all of us who had hoped for a speedy ending to a long journey.

I say keep doing what you need to. I honestly called DOS 2-3 times per week and checked CEAC several times a day everyday. Anytime our CEAC was updated, I called DOS to see if I could find out what they did. Some immigration specialst will give more info than others. You just have to ask the right questions to get a detailed response.

Honestly, the whole process emotionally drains you. For your sanity, try to keep busy and pray, pray, pray. Faith is what got me through it all. Some days are better than others. Weekends were usually better than weekdays, especially Wednesdays and Thursdays. Keep the faith.
