To go to see my family for Thanksgiving or not to go?

Hi fellow VJers,

First things first, my husband has never met any of my family members. I (the USC) have met most of his.

Sparing the internet the family drama details, I will say that:

1. I do not speak to my father. (parents are divorced)

2. I asked my mother if she would like to meet him when he came to visit in January 2012 but she said she was too busy.

3. I moved across the country in March 2012 because the state I moved to was way cheaper to live in. Needless to say, this also makes visiting family far more expensive.

4. I have spent the last 3 Thanksgivings with friends.

So, really my question is, when we file for future immigration paperwork, how bad does it look that he has not met my family?

Thanks!

We were never asked anything about each others family in our interview, we had both met each others family, and several members of her family along with my son were at our wedding, but it never came up. My passports with 30ish US entry stamps were all the interviewer really looked at.

Thanks. When we went to our AOS interview, the IO asked me if my mother knew that I got married and if she was coming to visit or if we were going to visit her. At the time I said yes because she was scheduled to attend a conference about 3 weeks ago near where I live, but that ended up getting cancelled.

You've done the hard part of Immigration concerning relationships. It would be extremely rare to interview for removing conditions. Just save up things covering your whole marriage (basically dates covering 2 years) showing you have the same address and co-mingle your lives and finances. You don't need a family reunion for immigration.

We only had pictures togetehr with his family and not mine. At the interview he was actually only asked if he had met my daughter-as far as other memebers they did not ask and even though we had those pics with his family, they never even looked at them. This should not be an issue at all.

Good luck!

I still have not met my in-laws in person. My husband will likely NEVER meet my father, because my father chose not to come to the wedding. Such is life. :) I'm sure it'll be just fine.

Future = Removal of Conditions? IMO, none at all. ROC is more about showing evidence of financial co-mingling, living a life together.

Thanks NLR and Darnell. And yes, I was referring to ROC (which is a pain in the buns) and N-400 (which is up to him so I don't have to do anything except show up to his oath ceremony.)
