(Before the hate-araide comes out, I'm not saying all gun owners are gun happy crazy people. There are many RESPONSIBLE owners out there. But there's also quite a few who shouldn't have a gun. Period. A nerf gun is a danger in their hands. And unfortunately, due to tragic consequences, it's the few that give a bad name to most)

There is no "probably" about it.

Gun rights will be in decline, anyone who doubts that has their head in the sand as to what the Democrats want and the trajectory of the Electoral college due to third world immigration.

I confess, (yep, I'm Canadian - just the disclaimer) I hate the term "gun rights"

It shouldn't be a right to own a gun, on the same level of life, liberty and general freedom from persecution. It's a right to live. It's a right (here) for peaceful enjoyment of your property - hence why you can call cops or bylaw on your rowdy neighbors. It's a right to breathe. It's a right for citizens over the age of majority to vote.

It's a privilege to drive. Sure life is a heck of a lot easier with a vehicle (especially if you're rural) but you pass drivers tests and other checks for that.

And yes, as far as I am aware, gun owners also have to pass background checks. Is some form of education mandatory or is it "here's your firearms license have fun"? Do you even need a license in the states to legally obtain firearms?

But that's why I dislike seeing it as a right. To own a gun you should be educated about it. You should store it safely (how many times on the news do we hear about kids getting shot/shooting themselves/each other cause they're "playing" with guns?) and you should be of sound mind. If you can't comply, yeah you should not be allowed guns.

But that's my two cents. Admittedly, I come from a place without a huge gun-culture (though I know lots of people with em, again rural area, coyotes etc).

Oh I know it's a "right to bear arms to form a well armed militia" or something along those lines.

But I still stand by education should be had, safe storage and some screening (no guns if you're mentally unstable or have criminal past). That is why I say privilege not a right. Similar to driving.

It's a constitutional right. What you are suggesting are common sense regulations on how that right is exercised, but a privilege it is not. It is a right.
