Hi guys!

So i applied for my OPT/EAD card 2 1/2 months ago following my completion of university. My job is suppose to start in less than a week and my OPT /EAD card is still not here! It has already been approved about 1 1/2 months ago and I have been chasing USIC for the past month and they say wait till September 7th.

The first time they sent the card it was undeliverable and was returned to USCIS, i put in a request and they sent it out on Aug 7th again, the website says give 30 days for the card to reach you. The incompetent USCIS officers say that they cant do anything till September 7th and to call them back if I dont receive the card by then. I am suppose to start work on September 3rd and i doubt my card will be here by then!

Finally today i called and they had me transferred to a Tier 2 officer in USCIS, who was very confronting and rude. She said that the card had left the facility 2 days ago and should be with me shortly, she also gave me a tracking number for the EAD card.

I tracked the card online, and it says it has already been delivered 3 weeks ago by USPS but i have not yet received it. I am getting two different contradicting information and i dont know what to do.

The officer says that it left 2 days ago while the tracking number says it has already been delivered 3 weeks ago.

I am probably going to loose my first "dream job" that i worked very hard for in undergrad.

What is my best option? I am going to call USCIS and USPS tomrrow as they are closed right now, but if i have to re aply what should i do? Can i get a card re-issued or do i have to apply for the OPT/EAD card again? How long will this take, i dont have much time since my job starts in a week and i am probably going to loose it if i have to re-apply.

Please do advice!

Thanks in advance

Hi Suria,

Thats really unfortunate about your card!

I cant suggest anything around fixing the problems you've had with receiving it.

However, you can check if you are able to work in the USA by using the E-Verify site now that you have been approved. I believe all employers are supposed to use this regardless of if you present them with a EAD/green card etc.

I would check that you are coming back as employable in there, and if you are, then explain the situation to your new employer and explain how they can verify it.
