I wonder if you goody-two-shoes arm chair quarter backs would have done it or not....if it meant you would have to reschedule your flight to the USA by a day at a cost of $600 plane fare increase....hmmm?

You are right, it was the lesser of two evils to do what she did. And I'm sure mine would have done the same, because that's just the way it is in the PI. I thought it was crazy that her family hired some guys to work on the house, negotiated a price... then they also fed the workers, just to keep them happy and so they wouldn't walk away from the job. More extortion! Kind of like the guys at the airport that will charge you a fee to "guard your bags" as you walk out of the airport. It's all over in the PI. Personally, I don't fall for it, but that's easier to accomplish when there in person.

Corruption in the Philippines goes hand in hand, which is ironic for such a God-fearing country. If I had a choice though, I'd rather go with this form of corruption because it's so easy to spot and circumvent, unlike American corruption, which is so well disguised and virtually impossible to avoid.

ps

If anyone still believes that Filipino corruption is exaggerated, trying sending imported electronic goods to someone in the country. You'll get to know our Customs people very well. Hell, if I was given a nucular weapon to deploy on one thing on this planet, it would be the Philippine Customs department. I have never seen a more vile and conniving organization in my life. There's a special section in hell reserved for those bastards.

It's true that corruption is everywhere in the Philippines, but they are right that if one person do not cooperate then there will be no corruption at all. I did my CFOjust last Wed and my one on oneinterview didn't even last for a minute.

1--forgive me but.....who cares that your one on one took a minute??? That has nothing to do with this topic

2--and yes...if no one gave into the tremendous amount of philippine corruption maybe it would stop

But if u had a choice of ....paying an additional $600 ( yes 600 US DOLLARS) to change your flight to the USA....OR....pay the schmuck 500 pesos....what would you do

little miss righteous??

And PULLLLLEZE....do not even TRY to tell us you would not pay the 500 pesos rofl.gif

Stop trying to make us foreigners guilty when the massive corruption belongs to your own country....

You girls must me teenagers.......sheesh

I would like to suggest to u or ur fiancee to report this to CFO. let their administration know about what that guy did to your fiancee...cfo does not tolerate this kind of bribery or corruption. if u let them know and tell them who that person is or about this incident, right there and then they will kick out that person.. I am just saying this because my counselor mentioned this to me last time she called me..this might help lessen those corrupt people inside their office. This is not the first time i read about this kind of incident at CFO. the one I knew happened in Cebu..

How can she report such a thing if she herself was involve and allowed it? The red inputs below saying "I am not leaving this room without my certificate" Insinuates that she start the first move.

Email CFO

CFO directory

My fiancée says ..."look...my flights this week and for my other trip for my embassy interview are all set....I am not leaving this room without my certificate"

So he consults with someone else

And the bottom line was that he wanted money for lunch for 3 people.....when she asked how much, she did not get an answer...so she gave him 500 php...

There's a saying "It takes two to tango".

I went to CFO last 23rd of August and had my flight the next day. I did well, no need to "bribe" just to get the certificate.

I think the corruption starts with the INDIVIDUAL. Let's not put the blame in the Philippines or the politicians, let's not go far.

Just ask ourselves how can we be a good CITIZENS regardless of our nationalities. We can have a never ending blame or talks about CORRUPTION..... if one individual start the corruption or bribery by herself/himself, there's no difference in comparison to the big corrupt politicians.

Just saying. "Truth hurts". But whatever it takes, it has to be said and corrected.

Let's not put the blame in the Philippines??? really? that's where the problem exists....and BIG TIME!

It's funny how so many filipinas want to defend the corruption in their country...how...buy trying to put blame on those of us who are being USED by these corrupt people

You just don;t want to accept that your country is rife with corruption...your nationalism blinds you...you know its BAD...really bad in the philippines....but you are embarassed (as you should be)...heck...I'm embarassed by the politicians here in the usa........and rather than shout a very LOUD cry against the perpetrators...your countrymmen.....you decry all of us schmucks who are being taken advantage of.....you got some nerve!

I'm not going to try and fix the sad problem in the philippines by ME paying an extra $600.....would you? I notice you did not touch that scenario...did you?

I am going into silent mode on this subject.....I am tired of certain filipinas here trying to have us share the blame of their countries problems....

And...if your western husband says he agrees with you....he is blowing smoke up your you know where.....trust me on that one...he is just going to avoid an argument..hahahahaha...we KNOW how our western brethren feel about this (now watch one of them post here in opposition....at the goading of his wife LOL)

Keep believing in your mantra if it makes you feel better...I'm done

Even this whole damn CFO process is a cost acquisition method to disguise "concern for OFWs." What a load of red tape bullshit.

Jessy

You totally misunderstood the story

SHE WAS IN THE ONE ON ONE counseling for 10 minutes......she did it...no refusal

IT WAS AFTER 10 minutes of one on one counseling that the guy told her she should come back on ANOTHER DAY for one on one counseling..

THAT IS WHEN my fiancée said...."I am not leaving without my certificate"""

There was no reason for more one on one counseling.....he was looking to cause her problems unless he got a bribe....

Got it now?

Posted

So my fiancée went for her CFO class the other day....and now is going thru her medical

We will get the sticker on her way thru Manila to the USA

So during the one on one interview.....she is answering questions...and the guy says she should come back for a further one on one interview

She got her certificate....a very cheap bribe....but nonetheless a bribe

I hate corruption (hmmm...that must be why I hate politicians LOL)

I am sure the Philippines is rife with corruption

Your fiancee still lucky because she give only 500, for me 1000 pesos for food also, almost same story they guy he consults with someone else then later he come back and he wanted money for dinner...it was only last sept 1 afternoon session..
