VJ Gurus,

has anyone's parents went through interview process at any embassy recently ? If so can you please share your experiences by adding answers to these questions:

a- I know its not but is it going to make a difference if the petitioner be present at the time of the interview?

b- what are the common questions asked? Please add as many questions you've been asked here..

c- In most cases parents from different countries are not native English spoken or some don't even speak at all - is that a negative point ? How they are going to communicate if there is language barrier?

d- Is language is one of the positive points when it comes to family base visas, has anyone been denied due to luck of English language knowledge?

Thanks - Mary

My parents just had their interview on the 14th of August and were approved. They said it was so easy and they were in and out. And FYI Kenya is a very busy embassy. They were also interviewed together.

They were asked

1. What does petitioner do ?

2. What does petitioners husband do?

3. Something like how many times has she been married? ( been married once but they asked the question like they were tricking my parents that i have been married more than once, they said she has been married only once.)

They did not ask for a new i864 or new police report yet they were all expired. They were then approved and visas were received on the next Monday. I did not travel to Kenya for interview and do not think it is necessary. Parents interviews are so easy, nothing to be worried about.

No one is going to deny you a visa because you do not speak English and iam sure they will have translators if your parents do not speak English.

Levy, your parents will be fine. If you only know how I prepared my parents, researched for questions all over the Internet. Aaaaah, I was so worried but everyone on VJ told me not to worry and parents interviews are so easy. And I will say the same thing, just make sure you have all your paperwork in order, they might ask fr it or not, you just wanna be prepared. All will be well. If you are religious, I prayed to st Jude as well. Nothing can go wrong when you pray.
