Typically how long does it take for London to receive files from NVC. Ours has been in transit since the 21st August. I assumed the bank holiday may be delaying things. Yesterday we did receive the formal letter from NVC saying they have sent our file to the UK consulate. Also today I booked the medical for next week sept 5th. kind of worried now that the file may not be in London by the time I have my medical next week. Should I just do the medical anyway or reschedule for the following?

As far as I understand, it's literally couriered, so if they told you they were sending your forms to London yesterday, it'll probably be there today/tomorrow. That doesn't mean they'll contact you the very next day - they get the files in, then they sit in a pile and then they process them and send out Packet 3. It'll probably be a week or two before you get anything from London (or, it may well be in the mail right now).

If you've got your LND and the file is on the way to London, your medical date is likely just fine. :)

Timeline

My file was sent from Vermont to Texas after 4 months.. I received a text on 7-30 saying Texas had approved it. that took 3 weeks. I then on 8-14 got another text saying it was confirmed or reaffirmed. Then I called NVC on 8-26 and they gave me a case number. MNL for manila. lady was very helpful. And I am now waiting for the letter to come in the mail. I have been told with the case number Hazel can go to BPI bank and pay the visa fee. Once that is done she can go online and make a appointment. She is doing that in about 6 hours. Visa fee, then the next day go online. But I have been told because of the flooding and protest many people got bumped out of line. So it might be awhile for an appointment. But I have also been told she will need the NVC letter with the case number on it to go to St luke for the medical. So that is where we are at now. hope this helps.

The CEAC website can be misleading - it's not always up to date. But that sounds about right for what you've described.

If I was in your shoes, though, I would consider hanging on a couple days until it changes to "Ready". There's no particular benefit to getting the forms in ahead of your medical, so you've got a few days to wait and see if that changes. If it doesn't, don't panic though - send them in anyway the day you go to your medical (then they should get your forms and results all around the same time). :)

The NVC have confirmed to my fiancee this evening that the file has gone direct and that the embassy will issue the number. I have no idea where we are at but have been told by USCIS, the DOS and the NVC to call the embassy for details of my interview

As I said earlier, I shall call them and update tomorrow

Thanks for the advice. I shall wait and see if it changes by Friday if not on Monday I will mail in the DS forms. I see what you mean now. It makes sense. In regards to the form 2001 I should only mail that when I have the supporting information for i134 to get a interview date. But Could I not just post it all together at once with the DS forms if I already have everything?

Thanks for the advice. I shall wait and see if it changes by Friday if not on Monday I will mail in the DS forms. I see what you mean now. It makes sense. In regards to the form 2001 I should only mail that when I have the supporting information for i134 to get a interview date. But Could I not just post it all together at once with the DS forms if I already have everything?

I would also advise to wait until you know they have your file before sending anything. Once you change to Ready go ahead and send everything including ds-2001. Also attach a cover letter with your LND #. The date of ur medical, an approx wedding date and a little paragraph saying I'm ready for ya!

The NVC have confirmed to my fiancee this evening that the file has gone direct and that the embassy will issue the number. I have no idea where we are at but have been told by USCIS, the DOS and the NVC to call the embassy for details of my interview

I will buy and then eat a hat if you get an interview date without having first sent in some DS forms and booked a medical.
