I received a letter from DOS with my fiancee's case number, but when I go to check the case status, it says it's an invalid number. At this stage in the process, how can I look up what's going on?

2013.1.7- I-129f mailed to Texas Lockbox (with correct fee this time--> Delivered 2013.1.8 (priority date)

2013.5.29- RFE mailed--> 2013.6.3 RFE arrives --> 2013.7.3 Forms mailed back to CIS via DHL--> 2013.7.5 CSC confirms receipt of evidence

2013.7.26- I129f approved! --> 2013.8.16- NVC confirms receipt of petition

2013.8.30- P3 arrives at fiancee's home --> 2013.9.8 P3 documents mailed to GUZ

2013.9.20- P4 email arrives

2013.10.25- Medical exam; 2013.10.28- Interview--> APPROVED!

2014.2.20- POE!; 2014.2.21- reunited in my hometown :)

In which step of the process you are??? If USCIS approved the petition, they send it to the NVC and after that they send it to the Consulate... When youu receive or have the numbers to schedule your interview in the Consulate then you procede to that stage of the process

I love you Charles forever!!

The letter was confirming that NVC has the application and will mail it to China some time this week. I was hoping I could look up online if it had been mailed/received in Guangzhou yet, but the system doesn't recognize the case number NVC gave me.

I'd like to give my fiancee a heads up when the packet should be arriving at her home. Hard to do that if we don't know what country her paperwork is in.

if yer talking about ceac.state.gov - don't really pay attention to it at the moment.

two things for now.

1. set up a calling pattern with DoS Hotline - when you hear of 'casefile opened' status then Guangzhou has the casefile .

2. set up account at ustraveldocs.com and wait. after a month, maybe two, pay the visa fee ...

any GUZ P3 shortcut that you found in the wiki? is predicated, old info now that ustraveldocs is utilized for K-1 visa chasers in Guangzhou.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I understand you, what we did was that my now hubby call from US to USCIS phone and they gave him the NVC invoice number and the Consulate one... they had them on file... so I proceed to make my appointments in the page that the Consulate give you... I fill my 260 form, and two others, pay my fee, and schedule for biometrics and interview, a week later he receive the Consulate invitation letter in the US and I receive it after my interview... So my advise is to call USCIS and check if they can help you with the numbers you need to go forward and wait for the hard copy of the invitation letter.

Perfect, Darnell knows a lot better about your Embassy, dancin5hr.gif So just good luck and be patient!!! All the best wishes for you to have a quick process

When I got my GUZ number I was getting Invalid number but then I realized I selected NONIMMIGRANT visa type instead of IMMIGRANT VISA(IV) for K-1.

OK, I was able to look it up this time. You're right that I had to select "immigrant visa" even though I was under the impression K-1 counts as non-immigrant. Anyway, I got a generic statement about "administrative processing" which is what I expected.

P3 arrived at my fiancee's house today! I'm actually worried that things are moving too quickly now. There are hurtles we're not quite ready to get over yet.

Don't worry, once you submit your P3 reply you'll be at a standstill for several months.

Several months?!?! That's a bit longer than we were anticipating. Why does that stage take so long? The flowchart for the K-1 visa didn't indicate anything that long.

that's ok - you have some delay points:

1. not rush to return the P3

2. not rush to pay the immigrant visa fee

3. not rush to self-schedule the appointment.

but it'll be more clear about the time and timing when she's able to self-schedule the appointment.
