Perhaps they were just married on paper in order for him to go over on a spousal visa. Still doesn't bode well at all for the visa now....

Wait wait wait.

So this ex-wife is also a USC who filed MAY have filed a petition for him at some point? There's a section in the forms for that I think and if this IS true, then it's worse than I initially wrote.

Just happens to forget a spouse that MAY have filed for immigration paperwork for him? That's worse than if she were an ex from his home country that he just "forgot about".

She didnt file for him. I got that cleared up.

But i'm not sure if shes a USC or from another country.

Since all I inquired about with him for the initial I129F form was his baby momma it slipped his mind about the previous union.

There was paperwork signed but no wedding celebration and therefore he "forgot". So he claims.

All i know is that he forgot to mention it to me. He's gonna have it listed on the DS 230 but I'm just unsure of how to correct the I129F so that it corresponds...or if I even can do that.

Like I said, even if I want to inquire about how to fix it I'm not sure how to go about doing so.

I figure have an amended I129F form and make sure he has all the legal paperwork for the divorce and so forth and pray we don't get a denial.

Perhaps they were just married on paper in order for him to go over on a spousal visa. Still doesn't bode well at all for the visa now....

There wasn't any sponsoring done. If there was the paperwork was never submitted.

I am just hoping when he goes to the interview he would tell the truth to the CO. I have talked to one of CO's at US Embassy in Jakarta and they said, all the CO's would know whether the applicants told the truth or not. They are well trained. After all, good luck!

CallMeKay,

I feel something wrong about your man! Please slow down and allow some more time to "investigate" him!

When a man "forgets" about important things in his life, as in an ex-relationship, there will be MANY other things he has NOT told you. You certainly will want to know about them BEFORE tying the knot!

What really alarms me is what he said to you "Well Honey, since you didn't ask, I didn't disclose about my ex!"

Trust, BUT verify!, Ronald Reagan

Just me and my 2 cents!

One more thing, CallMeKay, some Vietnameses got so dramatized when they tried to flee their countries (boat people of the 1980's). They expererienced horrific incidents with pirates. Some of these boat people developed psychological problems and they forgot about certain things. Their minds just tried to suppress the painful memories.

Was your lover's Ex-relationship that "painful"? To the point that he suffers psychological problem(s)?

Everyone sees my drift?

I'm sorry but you CAN T forget you've been married before.

Good luck to you and i won t be original but indeed, the best is to ask a lawyer and see if you can add this information now.

According to my fiancé when I inquired about his previous relationships it was only the one with his baby momma. He says he didn't recall that marriage because there was no celebration. They only signed the paperwork. Trust me, I've been giving him hell about this already. I'm born and raised in America so when we were filing the paperwork, I asked him about previous marriage. I'm gonna give him benefit of the doubt that he assumed I asked about most recent relationship?! I have no idea. But that's his explanation to me.

In light of new obstacles you've revealed, I would recommend you to get married first. Then file a CR-1 petition for him (I'll leave the detective work about him and his past relationship to you. I'll just assume you decide to continue your relationship with him).

I said so because I put myself in the shoes of the CO in Saigon and I just couldn't see how I would give your petition as of right now as a K-1 a pink slip. Overthere, when there's doubt, they'll play it safe, place it in AR.

Remove that doubt now. Get married in VN. It doesn't neccessarily guarantee a success but at least affirm them that you two already are willing to be committed to each other.

a K-1 is only a promise to get married and you know how "promises" are treated at the US Consulate in Saigon. Almost non-reliable.
