Language of the interview

Hi all!

Just a question regarding the language i will need to speak during my interview.

I'm from France and so, my U.S Embassy is in Paris.

Will i have to speak in French or English?

And still concerning my interview, for the proof that we're still together, do i need to translate everything in English (as done when applied with the I-129F) or leave in French?

I am not from France, but based on information from the DoS website, "

All documents must be in English or French. Documents in all other languages must be accompanied by certified English-language translations. The translation must include a signed statement by the translator affirming that the translation is accurate and the translator is competent to translate. "

The interviewer (Consular Official) conducting the interview must be fluent in French as well as English. In the DR, for Instance, they counduct the interview in main coutry's language, Spanish, but if you feel confortable with english, it should not be a problem.

Mi wife is Mexican and her k-1 interview was conducted in Spanish. All of our "proof of relationship" stuff was in Spanish as well. I imagine your interview will be in French and I think it's fine that your emails and letters are in French too.

The form my fiancé (the petionner) has to fill in to prove financial support is named 1-864 or I-134 ??

as we asked for a k-1 visa under i-129F form, we need to fill in form i-134 as proof of financial support. Right?

However, if we had filed in the i-130 form, we would need to fill in form i-864 as proof of financial support.

Sort of... not really. You will need a I-864 for AOS once you get to the US, but you will never file a I-130. You need I-864 to become a Greencard holder, and K-1 is technically a non-immigrant visa, so it doesn't require I-864 at this stage. But you will need it for AOS, as I said.

• Applicants for family-based immigrant visas, including certain orphans.
• Applicants for employment-based immigrant visas where a relative filed the immigrant visa petition or has a 5 percent or greater ownership interest in the business that filed the petition

It doesn't matter, you don't have to figure out the requirements for every immigration path. For you, you need I-134 now for your K-1 visa interview. For your AOS once you are in the US, which I hope you know you have to do, you will need I-864.

K-1 visa is nonimmigrant.

They will ask you what language you want to speak for the interview itself. I took english too
