I wanted to know if anyone ever experienced the same thing as me (or knows someone who did).

I went to my biometrics appointment on friday (23rd) and since my last name on the appointment letter was different from my passport last name (name change due to marriage wit h my USC husband) and that i forgot to bring my marriage certificate (didn't know i needed it, i mean i mailed everything in the application), they couldn't take my biometrics because i had nothing to show them that i was the same person as on the appointment letter. They didn't make any effort to accept what i had (a debit/credit card under my new name, the A# on the appointment letter that was the same as on my visa)

So the manager at the ASC kept my appointment letter and as a courtesy (as he said) mailed it today by dhl or something like for reschedule to the appropriate service.

Since it happened on the same day as my original appointment (it wasn't an ealry walk in or anything), am i going to have any issues with USCIS? According to the person at the ASC i should receive a new appointment letter within 7/10 days of reception. I couldn 't just come back later as i don't have my DL yet and have to rely on people to take me there so the rescheduling was my best option because no one could take me back there before another 10 days or so and it is an hour away from where i live. Is Uscis going to accept such a late reschedule (passed the appointment date that they must see as missed right now)

I am just stressing out now, as anyone had any experience with similar situations? Did it go well? Should i do anything to speed things up? Call the customer service? infopass appointment?

I am getting my DL sometimes next week so at least next time i ll be able to take myself there without relying on anyone. I am just afraid it doesn't go well

if i were in yer exact shoes, i would have kept the appointment letter, gone home and gotten the marriage cert, and come back, same day.

you gave up the appointment letter, so now you must wait.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Yeah that was the other option. Unfortunately the place was an hour away and the time to get back home and come back the place would have been closed. And again i was being taken by someone whose time was precious...

You can pretty much walk in to any of those places with a letter and get your biometrics taken so as soon as you get you appointment letter go back the next week day, if you letter said 8am on it or something similar go at 8am as they seem to work different cases at different hour intervals.

Yeah depending on my appointment date i will do a walk in. I will explain the situation that they previously refused to do it because of my ID and that i don't want to lose more time.

Hoping to get my new appointment letter next week... i will have my DL probably too so i can drive there myself without relying on anybody

If they don't ask you about why you are there on a day different to your appointment notice I probably wouldn't bother saying anything to avoid someone being an ### and saying to come back on your new appointment date. I did a walk in and didn't say anything, just had my appointment letter and my appropriate ID, they didn't look at the date and I just joined the queue and got my biometrics done no questions asked. Otherwise if they do ask you could explain what happened or just say your supposed to be doing something on the appointment date they gave you like going out of state with your husband or something. Either way you will probably be fine just going back the next day you can make it to the ASC.

Wow I'm just kicking myself in the butt for staying away from vj and not reading this thread earlier. I had the same situation last Monday with my wifes biometrics. The appointment letter didn't list a marriage contract so we didn't bring one. In our case the Application Support Center supervisor offered to let us have the biometric but would list my wife's passport name as the primary name then list her new married name as an alias. They said we would have to bring the marriage cert to the interview. We decided against it returned home to get the marriage cert. it was an hour drive back home an hour drive back to do the biometrics an hour drive back home to drop off my wife and an hour drive back to work and an hour drive back home for the evening......All in all I'm sleeping better now...not because I don't have to worry about the biometrics anymore but because I'M exhausted from all the driving....

your wife is lucky she had you available to drive her back and forth. Unfortunately for me my appointment was at 2, i arrived on time and they were closing at 4 so we couldn't do the hour back home and back to the ASC (knowing that with traffic it may have taken longer so we would not have made it on time). Also it was my sister in law taking me as my husband had to work that day and he had already managed a bunch of days to work from home the weeks before so he couldn't abuse it. If i had an illinois license i would just have gone back the next monday but there was no one available to take me so i was forced to reshcedule and now i have to wait.

I am going to the dmv next week as soon as i get my new SS card with my new name and get that license right away. I was not willing to take the risk to drive on my former ut of state license that was expired or use my french license as i had gotten a ticket for that a month before!
