Hey guys!

Just looking forward to what will need to happen in the future.

Were is it required to get your police check from? Can I just go to my local police station like I normally would or do I have to go through the RCMP?

Normally you would go to your local police station or the Commissionaires (they are sometimes faster and/or cheaper). For locations in Canada where RCMP are the local police, those people go there. If you have a criminal record they will need to do a fingerprint check through the RCMP. If not, you just need the Certificate to say the National database or CPIC was checked.

Good luck!

Getting it from the Commissionaires is the best/quickest/cheapest way. You can do it online or in person and it only takes a couple weeks. Don't get it more than a couple months in advance though. (Also, remember, if you've lived in any other country--excluding the U.S. for more than 6 months, you'll need a police cert from there as well).

Thanks guys! I was thinking what both of you said but then saw some posts of people going right through the RCMPand it taking 18 weeks so I got worried haha

I went to my local RCMP because the city I lived in, they were the local police. Cost me $25 and walked out with it in 10 minutes.

I think it may depend on the RCMP detachment. I have the feeling if I did it at my "local detachment", it'd take them the full long wait, since we're pretty rural. In the cities and stuff it may be quicker.

(not sure why that double posted, sorry gang)
