As long as she is only intending to transit through Frankfurt she will not need a visa, since she will not be going through immigration control.

I agree. As long as she has her US visa in her passport Frankfurt will not be a problem to transit thru.

Is it on one ticket with a layover? She can just transfer in Frankfurt without any visas needed. Tell her to check bags all the way through to ATL (which is probably what they will do by default, but make sure).

She is going to have about a 4-5 hourlayover in frankfurt, and then straight to Atlanta. I was trying to avoid any stops in new York City if at all possible.

Setp 6, 345PM, she will land in Atlanta ,Georgia, and I figure after customs and baggage, hugs and kissses, and a shuttle but, we will be in my car by 5pm, and then friday nigth traffic in Atlanta. Oh, those first impressions of Atlanta will keep her from ever wanting to go back. I live in Chattanooga, and DREAD coming to Atlanta.

Don't be surprised if she doesn't clear immigration before 6-7pm. I was with my wife in Miami and we were in the immigration room for about 4 hours. I was ready to leave her at the airport by herself and she was ready to go home (Belarus) before we cleared the airport :) Fun times lol

What's wrong with NYC? JFK is awesome! You get to sit in the plane for 30 minutes while it taxis to the gate due to heavy plane traffic because a million other planes have just landed. Then you get to stand in line for passport control for an hour due to everyone from said million other planes also needing to go through. You then go get your luggage and stand in line for 30 minutes for customs due to everyone from all those planes also getting their luggage at the same time (oh, and you pay $5 if you want a cart). Then you get to figure out where your next flight leaves from and drag all your luggage to that terminal to check back in! See, so much fun that she'll miss!

I actually had the same basic question, so thanks for asking it, and thank you to everyone who answered.

It wasn't until after I met my fiance the first time, and were planning to meet in the Caribbean for our second meeting, that I realized how difficult traveling can be for Ukrainian's (as an American who travels extensively, I know I take the ease of traveling for granted). So this made me worry about transiting through another country/city (i.e. Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam) on the way to Atlanta. I live in Birmingham, so it's an easy drive over.

Thanks again,

Lee

Be careful, each European country can have different transit rules for foreigner from different countries. Make sure she doesn't need one even if she never leaves the international zone.

Frankfurt's a pretty big international terminal. No worries there for a few hour layover.

And Atlanta traffic is probably about the closest to foreign driving we get here in the US. Drive FAST!!!

First off, Congratulations! The best of luck!

Just out of curiousity, was your interview at Moscow or at the consule in Yekaterinburg? Also what kind of questions about your skype conversations and her photo album did they ask?

As for your issue, if you tell me the exact flight numbers, I can ask a friend of mine that works in Lufthansa to find out if she will be okay. Cheers!

Usually if both flights are under a Lufthansa flight number and from the same airport, they should easily be able to check her bags all the way to Atlanta, just make sure as soon as she gets out of the plane that she tells a Lufthansa person she is in a connecting flight, that way they can help her get to the gate and she doesnt automatically go to immigration control with everyone else.

Always double check your documents and forms. Not only do you get delayed by RFEs and Checklists, but the time it takes for them to review the new items you send could be used to approve more applications. Save yourself and others valuable time!

K1 and all immigrant visas are only processed in Moscow.
