Hey ya'll

I'm feeling so close to the end of this immigration Journey and I'm happy and excited to get my Citizenship and forget all about PAPERWORK! I just got done with removing conditions on my residency and last week I got my 10-year Greencard dancin5hr.gif

Now I wanna start gathering all the paperwork for my citizenship, but I wanna make sure I get all I need, and also know when exactly I'm allowed to file for citizenship.

I came to the United States in Nov 2010, I got my conditional Greencard in 2011, My greencard reads "Resident since 06/29/2011". The longest I've been outside the United States has been 10 days (I went visit my family in Venezuela) and 5 days in the Bahamas. and I'm going to Spain in November this year for 15 days as well. I'm still married to the same US Citizen who I applied with for my k1 visa.

When exactly am I allowed to apply for my Citizenship? can I apply after 3 years from my anniversary date? or do I have to wait the 5 year deadline? I also would love any feedback or advice as I get ready to apply for citizenship :D

Thank you all

grab yer first green card .

Study it.

take the earliest date.

Go forward 3 years - 90 days

that's the earliest you can file.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

So I can apply by the 2 week of April 2014? around the same time I applied for my greencard? and what did you mean by Study it? my greencard?

It's the same date you applied for ROC but one year after ROC. so if you applied for ROC in second week of april2013, you apply for citizenship in second week of April 2014. Instead of second week use a specific date. Congrats on your removal of conditions. I had to wait 7 months to get mine lol.

On the green card is the date it was first issued, for marriage add three years to that date, then count back 90 days. But is that the date on the card or the day before it? To be safe count back 88 days.

Ours fell on a Sunday, so should we send out the previous Saturday or the following Monday? We selected the following Monday, and also used that date on the application. Depends on the hard head looking at it, may get it back and lose several weeks. Would also send a personal check, that way you have positive proof with that canceled check they received it.

I do believe they go by the date on the application, not the day they received it that could be even several days after. Our check was dated the same date as what we put on the application. This can be done several days before hand, but the date on the application, your check, and the day you send it, is all the same.
