For the auckland consulate, I just wawnted to ask if they prefer that you send them documents such as birth certificate, I-134, etc. back with the DS-230 after receiving packet 3? Or is it like Australia where you bring these documents to the consulate at the interview.

Thank you.

Also, specific information of what is included in packet 3 will be appreciated. I noticed that the information here on VJ was last updated a few years ago so things may have changed

hope someone here know the answers, I'd like to know as well smile.png just got my case number through email today! also does anyone know when you can schedule for the medical? can you just book with a case number or have to wait for packet 3?

It's good to know that you got your case number! My case is still "in transit". I'm not sure about booking the medical, I want to schedule it for the 9th of Sept as early as possible, but I'm not sure if I can schedule it without packet 3. I did email the IV department at the consulate, and they replied like, 30 minutes after the office opened on the Monday. I inquired about the medical and preferring a thursday appointment, and they replied with this

"As soon as we receive the case file from NVC we will send out our packet of instructions to your N.Z. address, along with the medical forms and instructions.

When you have completed the forms as per our instructions, and are ready for your interview, you need to send back the confirming signed slip (on page 2 of our instructions) and indicate at that time you require a Thursday appointment. We will do our best to work in with you."

I'm in the same boat. We just got our case number through snail mail last Saturday (24th), and on Tuesday I received my fiance's forms and extra evidence/info in the mail (ready for Packet 3) smile.png

I was thinking about booking the medical since we have our case number, but we've decided to wait for Packet 3 in case of any new instructions.. Now just waiting ~ happy.png

That's so exciting!!! Please do update smile.png.

Maybe I'm just too anxious, but I just want to know if I need to send in the birth certificate and I-130 with the packet 3 documents, or do we just bring those to the interview.

I tracked my case on dhl and it just left LA earlier this morning. So hopefully it should be at Auckland either thursday or friday.

I booked my medical just now for September 9 at citymed on Albert Street. They had earlier appointments, that day was just convenient for me, and I will most likely have my packet 3 by then. They just ask for your case number. Can't wait to get all this sorted! smile.png

I just got my packet 3 today as well :D

And yea as far as I can see, we do need to send the originals/or cerified copies of birth certificates, affidavit, medical etc with packet 3 before scheduling an appointment.

I think we only bring evidence of relationship, passport and fee to the interview.

I think I'm calling to book the medical tomorrow, hope I can get it done next week.

Good luck to you! hope we all get this asap :)

Thank you for the info! Really appreciate it! I guess I have to go to the JP to certify my documents. I only have one original copy of my birth certificate, and I'm a bit scared of posting it.

Good luck to you too! :) Maybe we'll bump into each other for the interview. hehe

I'm sure you've probably seen their site, but just in case, here's a link to their details for the medical http://www.citymed.co.nz/wawcs0133105/tn-immigration-medicals.html

There are also two doctors at Remuera if in case citymed isn't convenient for you.

There is also a nice little passport photo place opposite the road from Sky Tower, just on the right of the Kebab place on Victoria Street. It only takes 5 minutes to take and print the photos, plus it cost me $18 to print 8 copies! (I should've printed more...)

All the best on getting your documents ready and the medical :)

Thanks ArianneChris! I made a booking yesterday for my medical at CityMed for this coming Monday (the 2nd) biggrin.png

Thanks also for the heads up about the place that takes passport photos on Victoria Street - I might check it out if I'm nearby.

Also I noticed you mentioned about getting a JP to sign your birth certificate. I'm just wondering whether it's a good idea if I get a JP to sign all photocopies that I need to make for the Packet 3 too? e.g. passport biographic data page, birth certificate. This has been nagging on my mind the last couple of days unsure.png

Speaking of Packet 3, have you received yours yet? smile.png

I am so happy to have found this thread - so much great info.

I'm glad I found this thread too ... and welcome!

I only really had the JP certify copies of documents that would be time-consuming to reacquire if it does get lost in the post (birth certificate, overseas police clearance). I guess I could've done the passport bio page certified too since I was there, but it's not like they would expect me to mail my actual passport, so I figured a normal copy of the bio page would be fine.

Haven't received packet 3 yet. My case arrived at the embassy on Wednesday, so I'm hoping to get it soon! :)

All the best on your medical! :)
