Here is a quick write up of what steps I took during my K1 visa journey and how the electronic process has worked for us.

Preparing the Petition: I followed to the "T" the K1 guide that is provided by VJ, from the cover letter to every piece of evidence suggested. I also sent a personal check with my petition, so that I could track the funds being processed.

Then I Waited.... : While waiting I prepared my NOA2 packet. DS230, DS156, DS156K, DS157, I-134, Proof of ongoing relationship (Letter of Intent), and printed pictures we took after the petition date. I told my fiancé that once we got the NOA2 he'd need to go ahead and get his Police cert. and Certificate of No Impediment. ....6 months later.

Post NOA2:

Immediately after we received the email saying that our petition was approved, he began to apply for his Police and No Impediment Certificate. I waited 7 week days and then called DOS (202-663-1225) to obtain our case number. Once we got our case number he set up his medical appointment.

He signed and dated the completed DS230 and sent to kingstonIVappointment@state.gov and kingstonIV@state.gov. We sent it to the KingstonIV on accident but hey, we got our appointment letter in less than 24 work hours!!! We went onto

DHL: I went online to

https://usvisa-info.com/en-jm/selfservice/ss_country_welcome

to set up the DHL process and register my fiancé to have his passport returned to him. You'll need the case #, passport number, TRN, and standard bio information. You'll create an account with this information. Once the account is set up you'll then have to go to "Immigrant Visa" and click on the link in the 2nd bullet point and continue on. Remember fee for DHL is now included in $240 embassy fee so you

don't pay anything online. You'll have the option to choose between DHL's Kingston or Montego Bay pick-up points. Once you have completed this step you'll take a screenshot or I just copied the entire page and pasted it into a Word doc and scanned and emailed it to kingstonIVappointment@state.gov and kingstonIV@state.gov.

We are now waiting on our interview so we'll keep you posted once we get further than this.

Please add if you have additional information ... thanks!!

Thank you for taking the time to spell it all out in one place! It gets confusing sometimes reading bits and pieces here and there then trying to put it all together!

If you request the packets via email do they even send a paper copy to the fiance? And are the documents you mentioned (. DS230, DS156, DS156K, DS157, I-134, Proof of ongoing relationship (Letter of Intent), everything that is included in both packets? I am heading down to JA Saturday and I want to be able to bring everything with me that he needs to sign and I need to make copies of so I don't have to mail it in a few weeks. I will start calling DOS this week to see if they have the case yet so hopefully I will have the interview letter (email) by the time I leave.

Thanks again! And you guys got a fast interview! 4 weeks is awesome! Best of luck to you both!

Thanks for posting this. I followed the same steps. The only thing I would add is that my fiancé also had his immunization card reviewed a few weeks before his medical and obtained the necessary shots. The shots were accepted at MoBay hope and helped to save some money

You can get the forms here http://travel.state.gov/visa/forms/forms_1342.html

Packet 4 is just the Interview Letter. Packet 3 sends you the instructions to go to this site to print these forms, the Medical History form, and the checklist. When I emailed my DS230 and asked for packets 3 & 4 they sent me:

1. Checklist from packet 3

2. Medical History form from packet 3

3. Packet 4- Interview letter.

We've never received packet 3 but it's not necessary.

If you're not going down for the interview its best to definitely bring down all required original docs, I.e. job letter, tax transcripts, photos, etc. You'll definitely want to scan and email that DS230 (part 1- pages 1&2) so if your fiance has access to scan and email leave that form with him to complete but if not I'd have him sign it and you take it back with you so you can send it.

If you've received an email stating that your case has been sent to the embassy I'd call tomorrow for the case number.

FYI: Email for DS230-----

To: kingstonivappointment@state.gov

Subject: KNG*******

Attached you'll find the DS230 for <Beneficiary's Name>, case number KNG*********. If it is possible to

We are requesting that packet 3 & 4 be emailed to us if that is possible. Thank you for your assistance.

FYI i tried sending my DS230 via email to the embassy and requesting packet 4 and only got an email response that my fiance had to go to embassy to pick up packet 3. But we finally got that out of the way and our interview date is set for Sept 24th. FINALLY :)

Quick question: Did you find Packet 3 to be of any use? Does it contain information you think we may need for our interview? Also, how long did it take for you to get your Packet 4/ Interview Letter from the Embassy? Did you get packet 4 before or after picking up packet 3?

Thanks!

so this isnt the correct email address to send the DS230 to ? "KingstonIV@state.gov"

Kingstonivappointment@state.gov is the correct address for the DS230. After I sent it there they responded with my packet 4, interview checklist, and medical history form.

I really want to emphasize one point to those who have just gotten their NOA2 & those who are awaiting their NOA2*: DO NOT WAIT ON PACKET 3 FOR ANYTHING.

As soon as you get your case number you are SET for action. Your mission is to get Packet 4 (Interview Letter) by getting that DS230 to the Embassy. PERIOD.

To be on the safe side, email and then send the original by mail.

1. All forms for packet 3 are online (medical history form, interview checklist, DS230, DS156, DS156K, DS157, I-134. You can even private message me and I can send you the medical history form & new interview checklist but first, let me see if I can upload these docs to this portal/topic. If I can't, then feel free to PM me your email address and I'll send it to you.

2. I REPEAT, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't waste precious energy and time trying to get this packet from the Embassy.

They must have changed it because the appointment e-mail was for only issues with appointments, and not scheduling them.

Perhaps they did. Maybe the recommendation should be is to send it to both. I did so on accident.

Just want to make sure, cause I want it to go to the right place.

Here is the autoresponse when we sent our DS230 into the Embassy. Bullet point 3-advises you to send email there to setup appointment. So we sent it there after originally sending it KingstonIV@state.gov.

Hope that's helpful.
