Hi Everyone,

We had our interview to adjust my status to permanent residence from my K1 visa in Phoenix on July 24th. The interview went very smoothly, lasted about 5 mins, I made sure the officer had all my documents from POE (medical etc...) which she did. She told us everything was fine and that she was recommending us for approval and that we should get my card in the mail within 1 - 4 weeks.

It has been over 30 days and no sign of the card or any welcome letter, approval notice or anything at all. Also, my online status is still in the "testing and interview" stage with the last update showing that we were sent an interview appointment notice all the way back in June.

I called customer service and they said there is probably not an issue or anything as USCIS would have contacted us and that it is probably just backed up and to just continue waiting.

I am now worried that they have lost my whole AOS package and that is why we have not received anything. I am worried I will have to resubmit ALL of the documents again (aff of support, medical etc...) and start all over or something. I know the officer was going to lunch after our interview and maybe she forgot to submit the approval in the system?? I tend to think the worst and I am Just trying to come up with possible reasons for it not arriving.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge in dealing with a situation like this?

Thanks so much for your time.

David

You could certainly get in again, to that office, via infopass appointment, and inquire, face to face.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

(Organizer hat off)

Consider making an InfoPASS appointment and find out the fate of your AOS application.

Thanks for your responses guys,

I was thinking about that but I am absolutely swamped at work for the foreseeable future (I already have my EAD) and it will be really hard to get time off. I did make an e request explaining my situation. Do you think that will do anything?

Does anyone know what actually happens to our AOS package once it is approved? Does it stay in field office or is it sent somewhere else for card production?

Thanks again everyone.

David

Hi DavidR,

I came to the USA. On the 31st of July and they told me 3-4 months for my green card. Anyway it has now been nearly 4 weeks and I received my welcome letter yesterday and I received my receipt to say that I have paid my Immigration Visa fee. So I should have it within 4 weeks.

You are working I wouldn't stress too much...they should have stamped your passport when you came into the country.

K-1 visa holders, who adjust status after marriage, have a different path for getting a green card.

Alas, he's stuck for the moment.

Wow, 60 days. I guess I should not complain about a month.

I have lodged a e request explaining my situation. Does anyone know if that will likely do anything?

Also, does anyone know what happens to our AOS package once we are recommended for approval? Is it sent to another center for further approval and card production or does all that happen at the field office??

Thanks again guys.

Yea 60 days and counting. its hard. this process can really test one's patience. In matters of love, i think it should notbe allowed to drag on forever especially after K1. I dont see the need for another long wait again. Once married and there is proof and income established, it should be fine. Infact, the income should have been verifieed ealier on so that onece you marray yu get autmomatic conditional. it will free up the long waits and other cases could be processed faster.

I don't know if the package is actually sent anywhere else, I assume it would be otherwise they would have one hec of a pile of paperwork to store. I had my Interview in Houston but all of the letters I received including my Greencard all came from a Missouri location.

I suggest you go in on another infopass appointment.
