I just got my nofa2 on august 20th and I know that I will need to send my alien fiance the affidavit of support in the coming weeks/months but I am concerned because I am pregnant and had to leave my job for health reasons. I currently have no income, but Ive heard I can use a co-sponser. Is this true? Or will our visa be automatically denied because I have no income?

And on another note, how long is average for this phase of the process? I am due in late November and though we tried to expedite the process, they denied it. Is there still a possibility that my fiance can be stateside for his sons birth?

Some consulates allow a co-sponsor and others do not. You need to check the portal for your country and the information and reviews for the consulate you will go through. Perhaps check the India regional forum.

If he does not receive his visa by then, he won't be able to attend the birth unless he could get a tourist visa to do so, and I do not see that happening, sorry.

Definitely get a co-sponsor if you can. Begin compiling your (and the co-sponsor) Affidavit of Support information ASAP because it does get involved. The process from this point on varies in timing depending on the embassy. Read everything you can in the India portal. Best of luck to you.

you can get a co-sponsor, if you have a stable employment history, this will work to your advantage.

With regards to your pregnancy, I was also pregnant during this process and ended up having baby very prematurely...and more than a month before our noa2 and my american fiance missed the birth :( so I know how hard it is!

We got our noa2 in the middle of may and I only had my interview last week so, if he is able to make it, it will be only just! Though I wouldn't count on it, don't let it get you down! Just look forward to the time you are all together :) and who knows, there's still time yet! When it comes to the interview stage, make sure your fiance sends in a cover letter advising that he will be prepared for any short notice cancellation spots for his interview, make sure you include details about the baby and that he would like to get to the states as soon as for support...I did this, and had my interview 10 days after receiving my letter!

Good luck!!

Well it depends on which embassy you will be doing your interview at. Since we have received our NOA2, things have been moving very quickly. Both Mumbai and Delhi do take co-sponsors. My fiance interview is at Mumbai and he got his interview little over a month after NOA2. Do wish you and your fiance the best of luck.
