Marry a USCitizen, get a greencard, and YOU TOO can join the USA Army.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

No. You have to be permanent resident to join US military.

Travel should not be the top reason for you to join the US Armed Forces, or any armed forces for that matter. If you truly want to join it, emigrate to the U.S, earn your permanent residency, and you can enlist in the US Armed Forces.

I am seriously thinking about enlisting as well as soon as my AOS process is done and approved of. My main reason won't be for travelling, though ...it's because I want to give back to this nation after emigrating to it so long ago. That and to be more mature and have a better job.

Best of luck to you.

MAVNI is a program allowing aliens in many valid nonimmigrant statuses to join the US Army and become US citizens. The big caveats are that B status (tourist or business visitor) doesn't qualify, and they are typically only recruiting doctors, nurses, and speakers of various foreign languages.

Spouse-based AOS from out-of-status H-1B, May - Aug 2012

Removal of conditions, Aug - Nov 2014

And from what I've been researching, only the Army and Navy is being more into accepting applicants for MAVNI than the other branches...that's what I got from reading about it anyways. And the program is on a limited basis. I can speak one of those required languages for the linguist side of that program, but since I'm ineligible for the program, I'd have to wait until my AOS process is done to want to start the enlisting process for the Armed Forces...
