Update: Anna police say alcohol may have played a factor in this morning’s head-on collision

Update at 4:01 p.m. by Julie Fancher: Anna Police released more information on this morning’s fatal head-on collision.

Sgt. Jeff Caponera said there were three vehicles headed southbound on 121 and one vehicle, a 2007 Chrysler 300, headed northbound, when the Chrysler began to veer into southbound traffic.

Two of the vehicles moved out of the way, but the third, a 1996 Honda Civic, did not resulting in the head-on collision.

Caponera said the driver of the Honda Civic was texting through the Facebook app on his phone, and did not see the car veer into his lane.

Police said they suspect the driver of the Chrysler may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Honda Civic died of his injuries. He has been identified as 43-year-old Steve Clayton of Savoy.

Police say the other driver, who has been identified as 26-year-old Jonathan Dorman, is currently in surgery at Plano Medical Center. He is expected to survive.

Caponera said the road is still closed both ways, but they are hoping to have it back open in the next half an hour.

Original post: Police in Anna are on the scene of a fatal head-on collision on State Highway 121 that will close the road in both directions for about six hours.

Authorities have confirmed that one person died “and potentially a second,” though names and details of the wreck weren’t immediately available.

Southbound traffic on the highway will be redirected onto FM 455 west toward State Highway 5 or U.S. 75. Northbound traffic will be directed onto the Collin County Outer Loop.

No! It is the only way my hundreds of burnt out hippie friends can tell me which of them has cancer and is about to die.

Hippies on Facebook? Man the world is finished.
