VJ members,

I am seeking your advice on this issue. My sister filed I-130 for a Relative (a sister living outside US and family), the application has been approved and subsequently sent to NVC, however she's too busy to figure out the next step apart from the approval notification she received indicating that packet has been forwarded to NVC. from the much I know, I have tried to make her to follow the steps on NVC website but she doesn't seem to agree. She tried to call NVC but was told she doesn't have the authorization to access the info. I told her then, she needs to follow:

Step 1: Establish Communication and Register an Address and Agent (this step will trigger the next)

Step 2: Pay Fees

Step 3: Establish Financial Support

Stage 4: Submit Visa Application & Supporting Documents

Stage 5: Review and Interview Scheduling by the NVC

Stage 6: Visa Interview at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate Abroad

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks for your advice in advance.

When did the sister apply ? You have to check the visa bulletin for the priority date. Sibling petitions are going to interview over 10 years after they are filed, 23 years after in the Philippines

It's been 10 yrs now 2004. Then my question included, did she have to pay the NVC fees before it gets processed?

her priority date isn't current,

nvc will contact her and request to pay fees, everything goes together, once the fee is paid, forms and documents until the file is completed, sent to the embassy and the date for an interview will be sent

there is no visa application, there is the choice of agent, the i864 or affidavit of support, once paid, submit form and documents and pay the ds230 and send form and documents

what country is she from. the nvc will contact the petitioner

she has to check the visa bulletin, category f4 for siblings

The DS-230 is the immigrant visa application.

Your sister should do nothing.

The Priority Date is not even close to being current. Visas will not be available to them for several more years.

In several years, the NVC will contact the F4 beneficiary sister to file the Choice of Agent form. The NVC will also contact the petitioner sister to pay the fees and start the next step.
