sorry to hear you issue. Although it is annoying, I'd wait for their response. The person you spoke to is new and that's why there's a supervisor in the back doing quality control.

Thanks. I wonder why the OP had issues with the grace period in the first place.

Vice-Consul lack of training. IMO.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I was also a J1 visa holder, held a visa valid from April 04 2011 to April 04 2012 left at exactly May 4, 2012, exactly 30 days, I used my whole grace period. I got approved right away and is now waiting for the visa to be delievered. She also asked me about already being in the US, I bet she knew that it has a grace period that's why I never encountered anything like yours.

It will all be fine, there might be some delay but it will be alright since, a J1 holder has a 30 days grace period and is allowed to get another visa if you dont have the 2 year rule.

So, you are fine. I am hoping the best for you.

Thanks dear! Were you put under admin review/processing? For how long?

I love it. I was with my then fiancee at her Atlanta POE when we entered the country together and I saw and listened when the officer picked up her information and this was almost EXACTLY the conversation. I am not kidding you, including the plans for dinner after work. Just substitute "Oh #######, a K-1. Hey Bill, what do I do with a K-1? How many days do they get?" I was floored, but didn't dare say a word.

To the OP, you should be fine. Poorly trained and/or they like screwing with people.

I know it is not advised to call them frequently because they will be annoyed, but I read that we have to call the DOS and sometimes I saw IV Unit to check updates. What was the best number to call? The DOS or the IV Unit?

And thank you for all who responded, I feel better now.dancin5hr.gif But surely this entire process makes you feel helplesscray5ol.gif

It is not very advisable to call them and update cause they will tell you EXACT SAME THING everytime you ask, it was on my case. I asked and update almost every after two days and they said the same things over again. I was put on AP but I only missed one document, was hold for two weeks.and every time I asked and update they say "The case of Ms. Xxxxxxx is still in process, we will notify you once there is an update."

I understand how this process freaks you out, I hope it will get better for you soon.

I had my k1 interview last week. CO said everything looked good but I need to send in tax documents.  I got a 221g because I needed to send in w2 for cosponsor. They received my w2 Friday. My CEAC status online went from AP to ready for interview. Anyone have any experience with this ? I’m hoping because they only need tax documents for cosponsor it will be ok
