Why u going thru all that?

I did a risk analysis and in the event of an armed invasion from a Chinese horde this would be the minimum requirement to ensure a calculable rise in rates of survivability. Simply carrying a hand gun didn't raise a blip on the riskometer.

No, they had to get one of these:

Better start saving now.

So if it never happens in our lifetime, who's the idiot?

If it was possible to buy whatever the heck that is, I'm guessing BATFE would have it so regulated it wouldn't be available to average citizens. In the mean time, I'll just have to hope well aimed shots from the .50 will do the trick.

If it never happens in our lifetime, I have zero issues saying it was stupid for me to buy the stuff I bought for the sole purpose of "preparations." (And I honestly hope you're right and I have to say that. I don't want to shoot my ammo at people or mythical creatures. I like shooting it at paper target for fun and/or sitting on it and counting it like Frodo. "My precious.") But here's the kicker - my defense fund isn't subject to the same inflationary rules other currency-based investments are. There's also next to no volatility and therefore, it's a smart investment when used to hedge against currency devaluation. It's a tangible asset that will never lose value.

From an investment standpoint, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better futures market.

When I hear the "smart people" at work talk about their 401k I just laugh. They thought (like many of you) those of us who "invested" in guns and ammo were just a bunch of dumb hillbillies who liked to shoot stuff and were scared of black people and the government. When they found out I had a 100%+ return on my investment in the first quarter of this year they started coming to me with questions. "Diversify!" I said. "Hedge your investments against currency devaluation!"

Yep. We're a bunch of idiots. Idiots with a positive net worth, that is.

Clearly the military is a pointless institution, we should scrap it good.gif

The military has a purpose and that purpose was not to occupy the world to the tune of trillions of dollars a year. We've set aside the constitutional safeguards our forefathers put in place and I'm all in favor of returning us to those guidelines. No standing army. Go ahead, check it out for yourself.

There have been many risk analyses done on that very event and without fail, the Chinese win every single time. Their 6-year-olds don't get time out when they're bad. They get smacked in the face and then put back to work... then go to sleep with no supper.

And lets not forget the millions of potential saboteurs already in place. There are more Chinese restaurants in America than McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's combined.

As soon as they can figure out a way to get here, Wolverines will be a short-lived proposition. Better start boning up on your Cantonese.

Sorry Slim, I don't subscribe to your particular doomsday hypothesis. If you want to spend your free time pretending you are some lone ranger of the 21st century, you go for it. I'll carry on doing the things I always do and have lots of fun doing them.

You're right about guns as an investment.

Slim, the Chinese are not going to invade the US. I would go on about the MANY reasons why but I can't even fathom that you see this as a possible future.

I don't believe the threat of Chinese invasion is a real one either. They're perfectly satisfied being fat, dumb and happy just like we are. As long as we keep feeding the dragon it won't try to eat us.

There's an old Chinese story about a dragon that would guard a village's treasure. It lived in the mouth of a cave and the villagers would feed the dragon to keep it happy. Eventually the dragon got so fat it was stuck in the cave and thus blocked the villagers from accessing their treasure.

The beauty of my hypothesis is I'm not a lone ranger. I'm actively networking with like-minded individuals and we're forming groups of rangers that have lots of fun together.

Doomsday's not all doom and gloom, you know. There's lots of BBQ and beer involved.

Surely you are the dragon those Chinese restaurants are feeding? Edited by Jacque67
