This is a partial transcript from "Hannity & Colmes," December 4, 2006, that has been edited for clarity.

SEAN HANNITY, CO-HOST:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Ad they're monitoring our people to try to prevent the one person from coming up with the one idea. And the one idea is how we are going to exterminate white people. Because that, in my estimation, is the only conclusion I have come to. We have to exterminate white people off of the face of the planet to solve this problem.

(END VIDEO CLIP)(see link at bottom to view video)

HANNITY: That was former North Carolina State University Professor Kamau Kambon. He was speaking at a forum on Hurricane Katrina media coverage at Howard University Law School before his issued his call to exterminate white people.

Kambon also told the panel, "We are at war," and that every white person on earth is a slave master. Mr. Kambon has declined our invitation to appear on the program. He has issued an extensive eight-page statement to the press that includes references to Elijah Mohammed, Mumia Abu Jamal, Napoleon and various historical grievances and urban legends dating back over 1,300 years.

Joining us now is the Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson.

You know, Reverend Peterson, the fact that he is even in a position ever to educate kids is frightening to me.

REV. JESSE LEE PETERSON, PASTOR: Yes.

HANNITY: But I guess what my concern is how widespread is a thought process like this?

PETERSON: You know, I also want to ask, Sean, he said this — it was aired on C-SPAN. He also said that all white people want to kill black people.

You have Charles Barron, a black city councilman, who said that he would like to walk up to a white person and slap them.

HANNITY: Just to make him feel better. Just so he could feel better.

PETERSON: That's right. Just to make himself feel good.

You were called a "white boy" the other day on your show. I happened to see your show, and you were called a white boy.

HANNITY: Yes, a "rich white boy."

PETERSON: And Al Sharpton called Jews "interlopers." You know, this is common...

HANNITY: Jesse Jackson, he got...

PETERSON: That's right. Jesse Jackson called Jews "Hymie-town" in New York. It's commonplace within the back community.

There's a double standard in America today. Black folk, especially racist blacks, have the freedom of expression when it comes to the issue of race and morality. But white folks are made to be quiet and not even mention race or morality concerning black people and...

ALAN COLMES, CO-HOST: Jesse, you don't — you don't believe...

PETERSON: ... I'll make it quick, Alan.

As long as white folks are afraid, and they have this false guilt about black folks, it's only get going to get worse, rather than get better.

COLMES: Surely you don't believe what this nut said is representative of African-Americans, do you?

PETERSON: If it's not. Why didn't we hear an outcry from the black community?

COLMES: Because it didn't get any attention until it was on YouTube. That's why. Nobody heard anything about it.

PETERSON: I didn't hear anything from — I didn't hear anything from Howard University or Jesse Jackson or anyone.

COLMES: No one knew about it.

PETERSON: And I guarantee you, Alan, had a white man said the same thing and it was presented on C-SPAN, there would be an outcry about it. America would be burning.

COLMES: You think most — you know what? Sometimes the best why it deal with an extreme nut is to ignore that person. Do you actually think most blacks want to exterminate whites?

PETERSON: So then when — when "Kramer," Michael...

HANNITY: Michael Richards.

PETERSON: Michael Richards made his comments the other day, why didn't we just ignore him?

COLMES: Nobody is saying he's representative of all white people.

PETERSON: Why did a white man — why did we get on Michael and now he is going around the world apologizing...

COLMES: One question, which you get to answer. Is he representative of most black people?

PETERSON: Is he representative of most racist blacks like the so-called civil rights leaders, the NAACP...

COLMES: They want to exterminate white people? The civil rights leader in the United States want to exterminate white people?

PETERSON: They — I don't believe that they want to exterminate them, but they definitely are racist toward white Americans...

COLMES: You said — who's not representative? What civil rights leader said they want to exterminate whites? Who said that?

PETERSON: Alan — Alan, I just said they may not want to exterminate, but they definitely may want to divide and conquer.

You know, the sad thing about this, Alan, is that there are black children out there with no fathers and mothers to tell them that these black people are racist.

There was an incident this past Halloween in Long Beach, California, where a group of black girls beat up two white women. I mean, they nearly took their lives, and we didn't hear anything about that. Had white women beat up black girls or a black woman, it would be all over the news.

HANNITY: Jesse, we've got to run. We've got to run, but I'll you this question. As it relates to "Kramer" in this. Kramer used the "N" word repeatedly. Does that — does that bother you?

PETERSON: No. That doesn't bother me. But what bothers me is that white folks are building anger. They have a lot of anger because they are falsely accused of being racist. And because they can't speak out about it, it's going to come out at the wrong time in the wrong place.

And then you're going to have Jackson and others coming in and saying, "See, I told you white people are racist. Give me some money."

And that's why white Americans have to start speaking up...

HANNITY: All right. Jesse Lee, always love having you. Appreciate it. Proud to be on your board at Bond. Thank you.

PETERSON: Thank you.

Makes Michael Richards' outburst look like a joke. Gotta love the double standard.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Of course, since this appeared on Fox, it therefore has no credibility whatsoever. There is no such professor, or if there is, he never said anything of the sort...it's all a right-wing white-racist pack of lies. ;)

Why are so many lecturers losers in the US. Highly overpaid as well.

Luckily this was shown originally on CSPAN

Thanks for pointing that out. I almost forgot the liberal tactic of pointing fingers at the source, not the actual news. Bad fox!!!

LOL, I totally knew you watched Fox News.

Not accusing you of this but it's funny to speak with people who hate fox news yet one of their main news sources is John Stewart or some nobody blog or ridiculously sourced nobody news site...

According to Wikipedia, this guy said it over a year ago...which makes you wonder why Hannity is taking an issue with it now? Hmmmm...Here's more about the professor...(BTW, he's no longer teaching)

Was Kamau Kambon news?

In recent weeks, news outlets and the blogosphere have been abuzz over anti-white comments made by Dr. Kamau Kambon, a Raliegh, North Carolina bookstore owner and former adjunct instructor at North Carolina State University, at a forum held at Howard University October 14. The forum, on media coverage of Hurricane Katrina, was one of the prequel events to the Millions More March.

Some of the commentary blasted C-SPAN for carrying "hate speech." Others saw the lack of major media attention to the incident as evidence of liberal press hypocrisy, arguing that the obscure activist's comments deserved as much attention as recent controversial statements by talk-show host and former Education Secretary Bill Bennett. After researching this incident, it seems to me that one could get some decent stories out of it, but they are probably not the stories that conservative critics are looking for.

The controversy

According to widely referenced blog post on the website of the conservative North Carolina think tank, the John Locke Foundation, Kambon concluded his remarks to the panel by saying:

And then finally I want to say that we need one idea, and we're not thinking about a solution to the problem....

Now how do I know that the white people know that we are going to come up with a solution to the problem? I know it because they have retina scans, they have what they call racial profiling, DNA banks, and they’re monitoring our people to try to prevent the one person from coming up with the one idea. And the one idea is, how we are going to exterminate white people because that in my estimation is the only conclusion I have come to. We have to exterminate white people off the face of the planet to solve this problem. Now I don’t care whether you clap or not, but I’m saying to you that we need to solve this problem because they are going to kill us. And I will leave on that. So we just have to just set up our own system and stop playing and get very serious and not be diverted from coming up with a solution to the problem and the problem on the planet is white people.

What the blog entry doesn't note is that Kambon's remarks were immediately challenged by other members of the panel, including its organizer, filmmaker Opio Sokoni. Sokoni later told a writer for the Raliegh News Observer:

"The people at that conference do not support the extermination of white people. That is ridiculous. You can't back up a statement like that. It is immoral. Even the most radical people don't talk like that."

In an interview with WorldNetDaily, Sokoni said,"No one could have ever known that this former North Carolina State University professor would go off the cuff and make such immoral and unproductive remarks."

North Carolina State also issued a denunciation. Provost Larry Nielsen said,"This type of speech is counter to any

reasoned discussion on the issue of race relations, and is absolutely unacceptable in the NC State community." Students, faculty and staff interviewed for the NC State newspaper, the Technician said they were surprised and dismayed by the comments. None of the people interviewed for the story, included former a student of Kambon's, recalled having heard him express such views before.

Who is Kamau Kambon?

Kambon has reportedly refused media requests to talk about his remarks. I was able to get a few scant clues about the man and his beliefs from poking around on the Internet and in library archives. What I found about Kambon before the Howard University incident identifies his views as Africentric, but not violent.

The 11 entries on the Lexis-Nexis news database about Kambon focus solely on the incident and the controversy, providing no substantive information about the man himself.

The website for Kambon's bookstore, Blacknificent Books, is down, and the cached version of the site also contained no substantive information.

I found listings for the introductory-level African Studies course Kambon taught at NCSU,African civilizations and Introduction to African American Studies, but his syllabi were not online.

In an effort to find out about Kambon's scholarship, I searched a number of academic databases.

The Psych-Info database has a record of Kambon's 1978 doctoral dissertation for Columbia Teacher's College, "The effect of introversion-extraversion on reading achievement in a male tutee-tutor situation: An exploratory study."

Searches of the EbscoHost and Ethnic Newswatch databases, which catalogue a wide range of scholarly, popular and ethnic publications yielded nothing. Nor did a search of JStor and Project Muse, databases that contain the contents of journals from a wide range of disciplines, including African American Studies. I also got goose-eggs from searching Primary Sources in African American History -- which is where I can usually pick up something from the FBI files of 60s-era activists.

There is a post on the Assata Shakur website, said to be authored by his son,Obadele Kambon, which defends him by calling him a latter-day David Walker. Walker was a free black man who published a tract in 1829 arguing that slaves would be morally justified in rising up against their masters.

Obadele Kambon argued in his father's defense that the treatment of African Americans during Hurricane Katrina is the latest in a long series of assaults on the race over the last four centuries. Some of the events he cited, such as the Tulsa Race Riots, did happen; others are conjecture, such as the belief that AIDS was created to kill of black people. Still others, such as the King Alfred Plan are fiction.

According to the transcript of a local North Carolina public affairs show, Kambon believes the arguments put forth in a number of discredited, but popular conspiracy manuscripts, such as The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion.

In short, it does not appear that Kambon has been active or credible scholar in recent years.

What's the news value?

Kamau's outburst probably didn't get the play that Bill Bennett's remarks got for several legitimate reasons:

1.

Bennett is a much better known figure who has actually had a role in shaping policy, and who has a following.

2.

Kambon's remarks were immediately and widely rejected.

Big-tent efforts such as the Millions More Movement have yielded fireworks in the past -- remember how Jesse Jackson got criticized for including Sister Souljah in his African American leadership summit after remarks that she made following the 1992 violence in the wake of the Rodney King verdict? Bill Clinton's public denunciation of her comments made that incident news, and helped establish Clinton's bona fides as a political moderate.

Kambon's remarks did not lead to any such high-profile controversy, and so the news value was judged to be limited.

Yeah, maybe you should ask Hannity since he presented the story as if 1) it happened recently and 2) that he was teaching this to university students. How about a little journalistic integrity instead of this flim-flam, puff piece?

what's more interesting, steven, is that i read the news (as do many on vj) on a daily basis and i'd never heard of this. kinda interesting eh? that such could occur and we're not aware of it, but kramer's name is mud within a few hours?
