My home is not going to be invaded, and if it were it's unlikely that the invader would want to kill me and if he did, well it's curtains for me. I don't expect it to happen, I don't have a gun for protection. I have lived in riskier situations than I do now and I was safe then. Guns and homes are not a good combination in my opinion.

I already provided the answer. Most home invasions are robberies, most robberies do not end in someone getting killed. If someone is intent in getting into my home and killing me, I'm dead. It's not a very plausible scenario.

This is what everyone who was a victim of home invasion thought. You never know.

Statistics are on my side, I do know, it's not going to happen, it didn't happen when I lived in less salubrious neighbourhoods, it's even less likely to happen now. I am not losing any sleep over it. That's the thing I keep telling you, the risk of such an event are so small in US society today it's not worth thinking about, so I don't.

The liberals that are for a law to have everyone wear a safety helmet riding a bike are the same one who say who needs a gun to protect themselves. It will never happen to me period, Not every one is so naive. I know people who has had a home invasion. I know people who have had the race riots stop 1 block from their street. These men were standing at both ends of their street that was blockaded...... 2-3 blocks away every thing was looted and burned,They were not going to allow this to their homes. These men 1st generation Italians. They slugged their way for more than 2 years saw battles at M. Pantano,Sicily,andMessina. They were fluent in Italian, that is the reason why they were in that theater . . Case made is 20 years later they were not going to allow a bunch of rioters burn them out. . A lot of guns came out of the closets that had been shipped home after the war and were not your average hunting rifles. .... They still are around. Their sons and grandsons will not forget that riot. They understand that one day..... someone else will perhaps try to burn them out again. .

The couple in the OP were made hostages by the very gun that thankfully ended up killing the right person. The conclusion that having the gun loaded and next to the bed magically became proof that having the gun was a good thing speaks volumes about your totally illogical way of reading the OP.

(Long) had a hand gun and had used it on a LEO. . They were made hostage by the gun he already had. . This only proves that a person should have more than one gun in a home. ....It also shows that home invasions actually do happen.

It really doesn't matter in this case whether Long had a gun or not when he entered the home. He entered the home undetected and took the family shotgun away. The gun used to protect the family was taken away from them and could have very easily been used to kill them. This is another case of irresponsible gun ownership. This family is extremely lucky they are alive.

I don't care if people wear bike helmets or not. I don't care if they choose not to wear their seat belts.

There are so many bikers here in Wisconsin and I'd say less than half actually wear helmets.

Them not wearing wearing a helmet isn't going to put ME in any danger.
