http://www.minnpost.com/second-opinion/2012/12/health-risk-having-gun-home

Having a gun in your home significantly increases your risk of death — and that of your spouse and children.

And it doesn’t matter how the guns are stored or what type or how many guns you own.

If you have a gun, everybody in your home is more likely than your non-gun-owning neighbors and their families to die in a gun-related accident, suicide or homicide.

Furthermore, there is no credible evidence that having a gun in your house reduces your risk of being a victim of a crime. Nor does it reduce your risk of being injured during a home break-in.

And is there any it does. Notice the article presents no evidence it does, just tries to prove a negative.

Because depression usually leads to suicides not guns. almost 50% of suicides happen without guns

People commit suicide every day by shutting the garage and running their car.

Do you want to outlaw garages and cars

Seriously in the above example what caused the suicide the car , the garage or the person.I said outlaw cars just to be silly, but honestly in the above scenario who in their right mind would blame the car. No one

If someone hung themselves, who would blame the rope.. No one

If someone OD'ed on Tylenol who would blame Tylenol--No one

If I jumped of a building who would blame the building-No One

But if someone shoots themselves---It's the guns fault....Absurd.

States with higher levels of household gun ownership had higher rates of firearm suicide and overall suicide.

Why do you think that is?

I mean, those states have garages, cars, tylenol and rope. Yet they reach for the gun.

Based on the way you constructed the sentence, it would clearly be the garage.

Marvin - there are many more things in the house that can cause harm.

You make sure you put things away in right place and right way that applies to gun as well.

Yep, but if a gun is in the house, what do you think the weapon of choice is going to be?

And is there any it does. Notice the article presents no evidence it does, just tries to prove a negative.

So you only paid attention to the part of the article that appeals to you.

Gotcha.

Thus proving you have no clue what risk assessment is or what it can do for your peace of mind smile.png

Risk assessment is not done with one thing in mind or being already biased.

Its just funny how libs think if they produce some stats they are valid if someone else produced the stats with whom they do not agree than its all bogus.

Just curious NB, when does the amount of death caused by guns become not ok with you? What is that magic number where you say this is just too much carnage caused by guns. Or is there a number for you?
