What paranoia? Its weird to me that people feel they dont need a gun. Theyre so paranoid of being responsible for their own safety that they actually shun the means to do so.

And living somewhere safe may not be the same as keeping a gun by the door but youre doing so because its aiding in your safety. You might just be paranoid but instead of taking passive steps to defend against it (carrying a gun) youve actively fled what scares you.

That's some heavy deductive reasoning their slim.

Most people in the US and the world do not own guns. When what the majority of people consider to be normal differs greatly from what you believe to be normal, that usually means there is a serious disconnect.

R u taking lessons from Big Dog?

No stat out there that shows a house without gun is safer than a house with gun.

Hey if it make you happy and don't wanna own one go ahead.

Having a gun in your home significantly increases your risk of death — and that of your spouse and children.

And it doesn’t matter how the guns are stored or what type or how many guns you own.

If you have a gun, everybody in your home is more likely than your non-gun-owning neighbors and their families to die in a gun-related accident, suicide or homicide.

Furthermore, there is no credible evidence that having a gun in your house reduces your risk of being a victim of a crime. Nor does it reduce your risk of being injured during a home break-in.

You can't quote a university professor who specialises in risk assessment. Gary proclaimed that this was a bullshit study, so it must be :D

I am perfectly happy to be responsible for my own safety. I don't need a firearm to do that, in fact I am better of without one. I live in an urban environment, it is perfectly safe to live here without owning a firearm. You are reading things that are not there again. True, I did move from Northern Ireland by way of the UK to southern California, but none of these moves were undertaken because I was scared living where I was before I moved. Where do you get this #### from Slim?

i fully support your right not to be armed

The people who don't own guns are the paranoid ones now. This has taken an interesting turn.

I know, it's the most convoluted argument and all to prove that owning a gun is some kind of moral duty, not something people should or shouldn't do based on their level of interest in firing off weaponry.

It is ..Take out suicides, and look only at the chances of an intruder using it against you, or you accidentally shooting a family member and it's meaningless.

We have proven this time and time again

Why take out suicides?

Sure, you can take out whatever you want and that does indeed render it meaningless.

http://www.indystar.com/article/20130811/OPINION10/308110008/No-safe-way-guns-home

A gun kept in the home is 43 times more likely to kill someone known to the family than to kill someone in self defense.

• A gun kept in the home triples the risk of homicide.

• The risk of suicide is five times more likely if a gun is kept in the home.

I am not going to say anything about a person having a gun at home because it's your right to protect yourself. Plus, I've lived and been in neighborhoods that it would be best to carry something on you.
