The risks are deemed acceptable because so many preventative rules and regulations have been put into place to lower the number of accidents. And that number is declining, and has been for some time.

By as early as 2015, the amount of gun deaths is expected to outnumber the amount of motor vehicle deaths on a national level.

It already has in some states.

In 2011, there were 25,580 auto related deaths for a fatality rate of 10.3876 per 100,000. There were over 5 million accidents.

This source tracks gun deaths (including suicides) and compares them to motor vehicle accidents.

It does it state by state and then nationally.

Here's the source that suggests that gun deaths will exceed motor vehicle deaths by 2015:

It also shows the numbers of motor vehicle deaths declining.

Suicide shouldn't count for gun violence. It is self inflicted.

I found one of the comments in that link interesting:

I have never known anyone that has been shot or killed by a gun in all my 49 years in the US. Nor do any of my friends. However, I know at least a dozen people that have been killed or severely injured in automobile accidents. Now if you believe the anti-gun lefties in the US, then statistically I should know just as many people that have been killed by guns as by cars...it simply isn't the case.

So, the truth is, gun violence in the US is highly concentrated in ghetto areas near cities like East LA, Oakland, Chicago, Detroit, Miami, New York and a few others. Most all this gun violence is associated with gang activity which is closely coupled to illegal immigration.

And yet the plan is not to resolve the gang violence, but rather to take the guns away from those people that own them legally and safely. Why is this?

What about the other 19,000 suicides where a gun wasn't used? It was almost 50-50, but you ignored the other 50%. That's what Patriot would do too.
