Deed Poll K1 Interview - I only have a 'certified copy'.

So when I was 18, I changed my surname to my mother's maiden name by deed poll (previously had my father's last name). I have just found the documents - assumed all the paperwork would be there, but turns out I only have a 'certified copy' of the deed poll and not the original. I have looked it up and I can get a replacement, but obviously I would prefer not to spend the money.

Has anyone any experience of taking deed polls to London interviews? Originals or certified copies?

As with other documents (e.g. Birth Certificate), I think a certified Deed Poll will be alright. I'm actually in the same boat here, will be needing to order a copy of my deed poll along with everything else soon.

Just found this Applications processed by the Embassy in London - You are required to obtain the original documents or certified copies, and one photocopy (with the exception of your passport and photographs) for yourself and each family member applying for a visa.

if you apply for another it will most likely be a certified copy anyway. I did so with my birth cert.

Mmhmm. Reading comprehension is lacking in some though (ex: someone got their NOA2 today, pasted it on forums and asked "what does this mean?" when it clearly said their I129-F was approved).

Fiance just had her interview today and she had a deed poll issue as well. At first we thought we'd have to get another, because she was having trouble locating hers, but finally she found her certified copy and they accepted it at the interview no questions asked.

Certified copies are what you get when you do not have an original. If you do not have an original by definition you can not get another, that is what original means.
