Using assets and self-employment income on Affidavit of Support

I was wondering what, other than real estate, can be counted as personal assets on the Affidavit of Support. I own a website that generates monthly income (I'm self-employed). I built this website while living in the U.S.

My spouse and I are currently living in Europe and our income continues from this same source. The only difference is that we registered this business here. So if we get this website appraised, could this be used as an asset?

Also, my spouse has a savings account at a bank in Eastern Europe. Is it possible to use the savings in this account as an additional asset? Or does it have to be transferred to a U.S. account?

We're planning to do DCF in Frankfurt Germany and show personal assets of the intending immigrant (my spouse), plus our current self-employment income from our website, plus the value of our website (which generates income no matter where we live).

Hello,

I really don't know about the website because I have no idea how quickly it can be turned into cash.

As for savings. Yes, you can definitely use them as long as you don't have any restrictions to get the cash or get the money out of Europe. Does the bank account in Eastern Europe have any limitations/cash controls in place?

I don't think that being transfered to a US account is necessary. Doing DCF implies that you are not or have not lived in the US which means you might not have maintained residence in the US. Since opening a bank account from abroad is near impossible, it should be fine in the account you have now.

Hi,

My husband and I showed bank statements from our savings here in Germany, the income from my job (he's currently a student) and his savings in the US. It worked fine and we didn't need any additional sponsors. Maybe you have receipts of the money your site generates? I guess that counts as an income if you can prove with bank deposits that makes money.

In any case, to be successful at the Affidavit of Support you need to prove income or savings according to the Poverty Guidelines: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf

Hope is useful.

Yes, the money could easily be transferred or withdrawn. I just wonder how we would prove this.

Regarding our website income, we could show payments that come to our bank account.
