Why is religion, previous marriage and such so much of a bad thing? I can see how different religions, countries, don't mix, but other than that, I don't see any issue. And as far as prior marriages are concerned, why are those always brought up as long as the petitioner filed after the divorce was finalized? I'm just really curious because I really feel giving all of these scenarios just worries everyone more. Maybe it's just me.

Filed: Citizen (apr) Country: Ireland
Timeline

You are from Canada, so much of this will not apply to you. A lot of the concerns only/ mostly are issues in high fraud countries, or in countries where something is unusual, such as a younger man marrying an older woman or a Muslim marrying a non-muslim.

Previous marriages can matter because if the petitioner came here through mariage to a US citizen, then divorces that citizen and marries someone from their home country, the first marriage could have been fraud. Similarly, if a US couple gets divorced, one of them very soon after gets re-married to a foreigner, then there is a concern that they may only have done the divorce and marriage to get the foreigner here (for money or to helpa friend/ family memebr), and as soon as the foreigner has their greencard, they will divorce and re-marry the original wife.
