My case has been in AP for months. I need some advice on what good it does to get a senator to look in on the process. And even if I send a letter for the senator , will I remain the petitioner or is asking the senator to look in on the case like hiring a lawyer? Can someone please give me advice.

THANKS

Asking a Senator for help is not like hiring a lawyer. I believe that all that they can do is inquire on your behalf.

That being said, I was very happy with the help that I got from Sen Mark Kirk's office in Chicago. In ONE day they located my I-130 petition sitting in the Chicago field office when it should already have been at the NVC. Shortly thereafter it was at NVC...a coincidence ?

I contacted Sen Kirk's office through his website, which has a section dedicated to immigration and a form to fill out if you request help. I heard from his office 30 minutes later. My other Senator, ####### Durbin, does not have such a helpful website.

My Congressman also does immigration inquiries, per his website, but it requires a trip to his office.

So if you have a legitimate concern about a delay in processing, check out your Senator's and/or Congressman's websites for information. I had a good result.

the only thing a senator can do is inquire on your behalf. Getting a lawyer won;t get you anywhere as AP had no timeline, it cannot and will not be expedited under any circumstances. What exactly do you think a lawyer can do for you? It is security checks and a lawyer can't get you out of it. My husband had AP in Amman, sit tight you will hear.
