I'm going to get some kingfish and Lafayettes (similar species). The dock is loaded with them

I generally fish the ny bight area to sandy hook. Occasionally further out on the Ambrose channel. Rarely out to the Hudson canyon.

Excuse my ignorance , but are fish in the Hudson sea fish or fresh water fish?

Yep. Too many sensitive peeps out there.

And you've even got the Queen hooked up in your business.

King mackerel are big. But I'm looking for kingfish. As in kingcroaker....they're delicious panfish

Love mackerel. How about sanma? It will soon be the autumn season here. They stink when grilled but taste delicious dipped in Ponsu ( sorry, don't know the English) with grated daikon. Yummy.

The Hudson is salty 18 miles past north of the George Washington bridge....

But I don't fish the Hudson. From the battery to the Verrazano bridge is what's known as NY harbor. South of that is gravesend bay. Further south is sandy hook and Atlantic highlands. Southeast is the Ambrose channel.

In prehistoric times, the Hudson carved out the worlds largest underwater canyon now known as the Hudson canyon. It's about 80 miles SE of the breezy point jetty. All the tuna shows you watch on tv are filmed there. Great fishing out there.....

Google Hudson canyon...

Sanma is the red fish with yellow stripes?

Sounds fantastic. If I ever get my visa we should meet up and exchange fish cooking recipes. I have often thought about marrying a Japanese fisherman for fresh supplies!
