here's The great fire of 2013 in Seaside heights NJ. The fire is bigger than the Chicago fire of 1871.

In Texas, everything is a "coke" except for Co-Cohlur specifically. Ones.

Interesting that in Ecuador (where they use U.S. currency), they use our dollar coins almost exclusively, instead of the paper bills. They have their own nickels, dimes, quarters, & half-dollars, but they use our pennies and bills exclusively. Some who see our $2 bills consider them to be very good luck; those who are unfamiliar with them are suspicious of them as "funny money."

On one of our last trips to Ecu, on the last night, Mrs. T-B. said, "I want crabs!" I nearly told her to consort with one of the native guys. We went to a crab-house, where she devoured approximately 6 crabs. I filled up on rice and plantain chips, mostly. The total bill was something like $13. I paid with a $10, a $2, and a $1. The waiter took it to the manager, who was at another table counting the night's receipts. He saw the $2, perked up, looked over at me, and held up the $2 expectantly. I said "Un otro!" (bad Spanish for "one more!"). He came over, gladly handed me two crab-greased dollar coins, and happily took his second $2 bill.

Those coins plus the one that I had left very neatly equaled our final expense in Ecu: the cab ride to our hotel.

I like $2 bills and will take all that my bank has. They're twice as efficient as $1 bills, si man. It used to be that older Americans considered them to be bad luck, but I've found recently that folks really dig them.

-------

Story about dollar coins in Ecu: They're still chiefly using the older Sacagawea (Indian babe) coins from the early 2000s. Going down there, I'd always take several rolls of the dollar coins for personal use and to sell (at a discount) to Mrs. T-B.'s #2 sister, who runs a cell-phone store in their rather small hometown where it's hard to keep a good supply of dollar coins on hand.

I had a good supply of uncirculated Presidential dollar coins, and I used one coin to pay for a cab ride in Mrs. T-B.'s town. The young driver took it and marveled at it. I said, in awful Spanish, "Es nuevo, de mi banco en los Estados Unidos" ("it's new, from my bank in the U.S."). He looked at it, looked at me, and smiled in gratitude. I was in a hurry then, so that was it. To this day, I regret not having given him a second one for himself, and not having the vocabulary to tell him that there were more in #2 Sister's store right there where he'd dropped me.

Pork-flavored ice cream is just what you need, si ma'am!

LPoP so not bloody read, man.

Seafood is that cheap in Ecuador? Must visit ASAP. An acquaintance in Ecuador has a shrimp farm in Ecuador, and apparently they are fed steroids - I hope they don't become violent!

Sounds great. Here in Japan it is illegal to catch sea urchins unless one has a special permit. Do you ever catch them. Raw uni is the best.

I am eating sanma today, salted and grilled. They are in season now.

there's not any sea urchins in the waters here. They're found in the reefs of the west coast. I do love uni. I bet you also love salmon eggs.

Went for a walk around the northeast after dinner tonight. I didn't realize how neat that area was. Yay Minneapolis!

If you're going to be living there, you're going to have to learn how to say it right, its Nordeast. Make sure you make that a very hard D to.

Nordeast is a beer, bro.

I love a guy who looks like he could be on Criminal Minds as either an agent or a killer.

Nordeast is a beer, bro.

And a fairly decent beer too. But what do you think the beer was named after? The location of the old Grainbelt brewery in Nordeast Minneapolis. I tell you, all these new people have no sense of the old traditions in Minneapolis.

NEWS & EVENTS
Introducing Grain Belt Nordeast!

nordeast_big.jpgNamed after the hardworking neighborhood where the original Grain Belt Brewery established its roots back in 1893. ‘Nordeast’ is an endearing term which comes from the Northern and Eastern European immigrants and their language which helped shape Northeast Minneapolis. This amber American Lager is our way of honoring the storied past of Grain Belt and the people who helped to make it legendary! Cheers!

teehee

I just came for the drinks.

I used to have a lot of friends that lived Nordeast years ago. Just about everyone of them was a drunk or a druggie.

I don't think I could stand Pork-flavoured Ice cream. I'm

When you were back in Canada they had the Lays Pick your favourite chips. One of them Was Maple Mouse. Well as someone who has not seen their commercials I thought maybe they meant the dessert, but ack as soon as the kids opened the bag I could smell it. They made it taste like Mouse ewwwwwwww.
