My wife wants one of those flat topped convection stoves. My family had one when I was a kid, and I found it a pain in the butt over a gas stove. I think she likes it because it appears easier to clean, but in reality they're a pain in the butt to keep clean, you just look at the sucker and burnt on food seems to appear from nowhere.

I say get her a new oven if you can swing it. Keeping the spouse happy is a good thing, and if buying her appliances will do it, you're a lucky man.

Three of 4 cooktop burners have hosed connections where they enter the stove. Guy can repair them after ordering the parts, or we can see how much (or little) the warranty co. will offer us toward a new one, because Mrs. T-B. really, really wants a new one. Repairman was familiar only with GE-brand cooktops (and those very much so) and recommended against them. Am scoping ideas; I'm surprised at the cheap price of the lower-end models.

I have one each of these in my house. an induction coo ktop in basement, and GE Profile on second floor. Both are glass tops and easy to clean. The GE is a 36 inch "profile" series. The option was the higher end "cafe" series. No complaints on either one. But these things are not cheap.

My memories of that day are pretty vivid and I wasn't there. I was driving to work when I heard the first plane had hit, and I was thinking how the heck does a plane hit a building? I couldn't even imagine it was a commercial airliner. Just as I was pulling into the parking lot at work they said a second plane hit the second tower, and I was totally blown away thinking this is no accident.

Take the day off Steve. Go do something that makes you feel good.

Thanks, I am going to take off.

9-11 in NYC started off as a gorgeous, gorgeous day.....I remember noting the weather. Which is now why gorgeous days always remind me of 9-11.

It was a gorgeous day here to. Every one at work crowded around the one TV we have hear for a bit over an hour. We watched the towers fall. One of the owners finally told everyone to get back to work. It was a very surreal day. It didn't feel right working and acting like it was any other day. But really what else was there to do?

conversely, during this mayoral race. No candidates made mention of any ideas on counter terrorism.

This city has been on a warpath with it's municipal workers since the recession. Especially the police dept. Recently everyone is all of a sudden opposed to the "Stop and Frisk" program. I think the NYPD has done a tremendous job in the couple of decades.

I was there. It bothers me much more than the Gulf war.....I mean don't have nightmares about it. I don't know what bothers me. I've been to several health monitoring sessions since. And a psychological survey is always given. I guess I'm ok. After the several months, I left Manhattan and never returned.

Today, I reluctantly requested hubby's place of employment to pay him worker's comp.

I did not want it to come to this as it was just some silly finger sprain and he only worked there for TWO Days but he is STILL out and unable to bend his finger to do his job and that's all they do there so he can't go back and do some other job either.

I have had to take time off work, I don't have the incoming money that we should have, and hubby's insurance has decided to decline him insurance for the next 5 years on any sprains or ligament tears in the left fingers. w...tf....

wow that's a PITA. :(

Novembro I remember seeing orcas at the Vancouver aquarium when I was 4 (Tilikum was there at the time) and then again in my early 20s at Sea World.

They certainly had a MUCH larger area at Sea World than Vancouver. Because seeing them at age 4 in Van, I loved them, wanted to become a Marine Veterinarian (until I realized how long it would take to do so.. #### school! lol). I have a tattoo of an orca on my hip that I got when I was 18. :) I have a love/hate relationship with zoos and marine parks. I wish all the animals had a lot more room. And while they should be wild, it's hard because it's important to have them where people can see the real living animal and know they really do exist and are not in some far off place, easily ignored. I think in the end it helps conservation more because people have to see things in their face before they often make an effort. But I think small zoos should be closed and enclosures should be often 10 times what they are now. I was disappointed in the size of the Tiger exhibit at the Denver zoo. The one is Calgary is easily 3 times the size.

I would like to see orcas not in marine parks though. I've seen videos of them close to shore near Vancouver and I hope one day to be able to see them wild as well. I've seen humpback whales in Hawaii and it took my breath away, it was so surreal. Everyone should have that opportunity. Watching nature videos just doesn't do it justice. Although 3D Imax is pretty cool!

Let's go save the whales since Steve was just kidding.

I love a guy who looks like he could be on Criminal Minds as either an agent or a killer.

lol Hubs used to write mmk instead of okay or kk. I hate KK... why not just write OK? Makes sense to me! But then again I'm not american and all of you would be confused and be like "Oklahoma? WHAT?!" when I was just saying okay.
