If you remember, when I first got back from Asia, I was hardly posting. That's because I went thru the same ####### having to straighten out a lotta ####### at work. I just didn't mention it. Now I'm gone for a week, and it's the same ####### (tho not as bad). But I'm just as pissed.

I'm going to go on vacation again in November. And am I gonna have to deal with this again? My boss is going senile.

Ah the old got in an accident excuse. I've heard that one before.

This one was true -- he showed up in a blue car and showed me a picture of his van, which got smacked pretty well. A good fellow. At least I got a lot of work done the last 2 days, by virtue of bringing stuff home.

Dishwarsher's drain pump is (no pun intended) hosed, sigh man, so you were right, Cary. Home-warranty company will almost certainly issue us a voucher to buy a new machine.

Three of 4 cooktop burners have hosed connections where they enter the stove. Guy can repair them after ordering the parts, or we can see how much (or little) the warranty co. will offer us toward a new one, because Mrs. T-B. really, really wants a new one. Repairman was familiar only with GE-brand cooktops (and those very much so) and recommended against them. Am scoping ideas; I'm surprised at the cheap price of the lower-end models.

My wife wants one of those flat topped convection stoves. My family had one when I was a kid, and I found it a pain in the butt over a gas stove. I think she likes it because it appears easier to clean, but in reality they're a pain in the butt to keep clean, you just look at the sucker and burnt on food seems to appear from nowhere.

I say get her a new oven if you can swing it. Keeping the spouse happy is a good thing, and if buying her appliances will do it, you're a lucky man.

My memories of that day are pretty vivid and I wasn't there. I was driving to work when I heard the first plane had hit, and I was thinking how the heck does a plane hit a building? I couldn't even imagine it was a commercial airliner. Just as I was pulling into the parking lot at work they said a second plane hit the second tower, and I was totally blown away thinking this is no accident.

Take the day off Steve. Go do something that makes you feel good.
