I am happy to report that the surgery was a success.

Was thinking about you, Brother D. Hopefully, this will be a true cure and not just an interim fix that you have to put up with.

Got a bum knee? Open a joint account. :)

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

I am no longer an organizer. I shall miss being able to edit whenever I want to but with my new job, I just don't have the time to help out properly. sad.png So I resigned. So sorry T-bone!

Your worthy activity will be missed, but you resigned for hono(u)rable reasons.

Dig this: I've been appointed as a Global Moderator on VJ. This probably means that my very finite on-line time will be consumed with the burdens implied by that position, so I'll be in this thread less -- and, when I am here, I'll have to be appropriately self-restrained in my contributions.

In everyday news: the garage-sale activity today was among the best of any weekend. The planned route was rather tight and near home. The first stop was a street with 5 concurrent sales. I got a nice wall-clock. At a different stop, I found a designer pair of brown dress-loafers, to replace a pair of mine that have never fit properly. At an estate sale (= generally rip-offs), they were selling everything half-price, so I got a fluffy bath towel and a set of chandelier light bulbs. Total expenditure for trip = $15.

Upon my return home, Mrs. T-B. wanted to go out, so I took her and Mini-B. to the first street. She got a purse and some jewelry for $4. We would have looked further, but it began to rain very hard. We were parked down the street, and we were stuck inside someone's garage during the deluge while being assaulted by mosquitoes. We eventually made it out, well-bitten but not too wet.

Over and out for tonight, zzz man.

OK, I did the catch up…

1) Steve - I definitely saw lobsters (in Pike Place Market in Seattle lol), but I've never eaten it.

2) Deb - I agree with Niki. People calling other people horrid names are really insecure and jealous of the people they humiliate.

3) Niki - I LOVED reading your posts about dog s! smile.png I used to have a dog when I lived with my parents. I'd love to have one now, but it would be unfair to it, since it would have to spend a lot of time home alone, and it's not okay with me.

4) Niki - congrats on your job!

5) Niki - too bad you're not a mod anymore. I'll miss seeing your work on the forums.

6) Darnell - your work to give others a better life is amazing!

7) Darnel - good to see that your surgery is behind you now. Get better!

8) T-Bone - It's great to hear that Mini-Bone liked his orientation in kg! smile.png Hopefully he'll get used to being in kindergarten as well… Give him time smile.png

9) T-Bone - I hope you won't abandon us! Is the Global Moderator range preventing you from being active in this thread and you have to be self-restrained in your contributions?

10) OMG! Cary is back!!! Great! biggrin.png You've been missed here, but I guess you know that already wink.png

And that's all from me now smile.png

Have a great Sunday!

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Deb! :)

EDIT: Dunno why it was posted twice...

EDIT: Dunno why it was posted twice...

I think now that T-B's a moderator, he has to wear two hats basically. If both hats agree with what he posts, then the post goes into the interwebs. Essentially, where before he might join us in criticizing posts in other parts of the forum because of one reason or another, he can't do that anymore in the interest of impartiality.

That said, it's proof if you work hard good things will come to you. Problem is I'm a bit like an eagle eye and too ready to pull the trigger sometimes on some posts, though that said I did sort of help down a former banned member causing trouble a few days ago. Shame he feels he has to use proxies and the like to circumvent a ban on an immigration forum..

3. Our microwave is over the oven. The range-fan is over the cooktop (stove with burners). We're looking for recommendations on a newer, quieter fan.

My house is outfitted with this brand. Pacific. They vent outside, are very powerful, and very quiet for the amount of power they put out.

Thank you Asia! No wonder it was so quiet this weekend! I knew you'd gone but put it into the back of my head and then wondered where you were until you came back and then I went "oh yeah right..." and made a face at myself.

As for former banned members, it's pretty pathetic when you spend your time trying to troll an immigration forum. There are plenty of purely entertainment forums to troll. Nexopia for example?

Yeah, it is. I suspect the former member in question is neurotic or something to be honest, basically pretending to be other people.

Was doing laundry... Forgot to put the lid down on the washer so it just stopped. I went to put the clothes in the dryer and was like, uhm... tub full of water??? Put the lid down, yeah, it's not done. Thankfully when it's still full of water the clothes don't smell musty if they sit in there a bit. Gonna go get a pork shoulder and drop it into the slow cooker for dinner. woooo!!! Grab some buns too because I think ours are old and stale (EW!!) Maybe I'll get the stuff for coleslaw! OOO! Dinner sounds fantastic already!

Make sure to post pics! I love cole slaw :)

I have some fresh green beans to use tonight. Dunno what to pair them with, but I'm loving the quinoa right now, so I might cook that in some white wine and pair it with chicken of some kind.

I love a guy who looks like he could be on Criminal Minds as either an agent or a killer.
