A review of our systems shows that Case MSC139*******, Form I-485 was received in our office on 05/30/2013 and is currently pending. This case has been identified as a possible interview waiver case and is currently being held at the NBC pending a field office review. The interview waiver cases are being shipped to the local USCIS field offices based on field office capacity. At this time the processing time is approximately 9-12 months.

I hope this information is helpful.

Thank you,

Congressional Immigration Services Officer
National Benefits Center, USCIS, DHS

Does this mean that my case will be processed accordingly to USCIS processing times for my local office or will it definitely be 9-12 months?

I just want to know how long the NBC is going to hold the case, because my local field office in Charleston, WV only have like 19 cases pending according to:

http://dashboard.uscis.gov/index.cfm?formtype=9&office=20&charttype=2

Any ideas??

We waited over 10 months for approval - There are still people who applied in Sept 2012 waiting approval. At least USCIS is now sending a letter out letting you know that you are possibly an interview waiver case. We had no communication at all from them for 10 months until we got our approval. It looks like now that NBC is also sending the interview waived cases to local field offices for processing it seems to be going quicker. Hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer.

  • 6 months later...

I have received a similar letter today explaining there is a 6 month backlog. I have viewed it with optimism as our case must be straight forward if they are considering waiving the interview. Also am I right in thinking that should the process take two years I will then when not have to apply for permanent residency again for another 10 years. I have read that if you receive permanent residency within two years you have to apply all over again 90 days before the two years is up. The waiting may be frustrating but at least I am here, married to my wife, eligible to work and travel.
