I felt so worry. Did you read this post? the lady package was sent to Manila instead of Bangkok and she is working in Bangkok

""On August 19th, my petitioner called the NVC and he was given the case number. On our submitted form, I have specifically indicated that I since I am working as a teacher here in Thailand, I want my interview to be held in USEM Bangkok. However, to our surprise, my fiancé was given a Manila Case number. We informed the NVC call center representative that there was a mistake and she even confirmed that, indeed, the addresses on the submitted form is in Thailand and she made a request to have the case number changed already and advised us to call after 10days for the possible change.
When we checked the Visa Status at CEAC, it showed that the case was still at NVC, so we thought there was a good chance to make the changes right there. My fiancé called NVC again on August 20th to inquire about the progress of our case. The representative said that it was currently under review & an appropriate action will be taken once the review is completed.
Last August 22nd, when we checked CEAC website again, our case status was "READY" and the file was shipped to the Philippines already. We couldn't believe it because we called them 2 days in a row to make sure it is going to be sent to USEM BANGKOK while the file was still there. When my fiancé called NVC call center the third time, he was advised to contact the involved embassies directly. Seems to me these representatives need more training."""

I am a Chinese citizen but I'm currently in NZ. I am now waiting for NVC to give me a case number amd forward the case to the consulate in Auckland. I was reading information about Third Country National applying for k1 on the NZ consulate website, and it says that

"

First, that person must show that they have permission from the New Zealand Immigration Service to remain in New Zealand for 6 months or longer i.e. NOT just on a tourist visa. Depending on the immigrant visa category involved, it is possible that we would accept that person's immigrant visa application. In general, however, the person must have some ties to New Zealand; that is, some reason for being here beyond applying for the visa."

So in order for the consulate here in NZ to accept my application, I have to have a valid NZ visa for more than 6 months and have some tie to NZ.

I have been on a student visa in NZ for the past 7 years and I just changed to a 1 year work visa as I finished uni a month ago. so I meet the 1st requirement.

Now I'm nervous about the 2nd requirement. Since I have just finished uni and am also applying for K1, it's impossible for me to have a permanent job right now. So now I'm just looking for part time work while waiting, I wonder if that can cause a problem?? sad.png I have been in NZ long before I met my fiance and I'd stay here if I didnt meet him....the thing is, last year I tried to apply for a visitor visa in Auckland so I can visit my fiance, but was rejected.. the reason given was that I didn't have a strong tie to NZ...and that was when I was still studying. Now I'm not in uni anymore and don't have a job, wouldn't that make them refuse to take my case? sad.png

I was worried about that too since I've read that sometimes people get sent to the wrong consulates. I'm a citizen of the Philippines with NZ residency. You have been legally residing in NZ for a long time, so there should be no problem. To be honest it's highly unlikely that you are "visa shopping". You are already in NZ, have studied there for your secondary and tertiary qualifications, and was granted a work visa. Bottom line is you can stay in NZ if you want, and it would be the most convenient option, if not for the fact that you fell in love with someone halfway around the world. I don't think anyone would think that you would go to all the trouble to just start another process of paperwork, getting social security, bank accounts, qualifications validated etc etc. in a country you've never even been to.

We did just got our case number a few days ago that started with ACKxxxxxxx. So I think you'll be fine too.

oh thanks for your reply ArianneChris :) that make me feel a bit better. Now since you just received your case number, do you have to contact the consulate in Auckland before they send the case? this is what I saw on the Auckland consulate website:

Alien applicant needs to provide Consulate General with evidence of visa status in New Zealand, also case number, name and date and place of birth and current N.Z. address and phone number. We can then request the case file from another Post or directly from the National Visa Center

that sounds like more unnecessary delay...

I'm not exactly sure. I thought they would email me when they got the packet, but I guess it wouldn't hurt if I email them to ask about that. I'll try emailing them tomorrow with my case number and stuff and let you know if they get back to me

Hi Stella, have u gotten ur case number yet?

yea I did. and it's already in NZ. Apparently they just prepared my packet 3 and it's supposed to be sent to me today already :)

I did email the consulate and they asked me for my current NZ visa. I just sent them an email with my current and past NZ visas, hope that satisfies them.

thanks :) and yes we got transferred to TSC about 2-3 months after NOA1. Did you get transferred too? It seems that TSC likes to procrastinate with sending approved cases to NVC, so it took us a while to get a case number. hope you guys don't have to wait too long, and don't worry, I'm sure they will send your case to Australia

Yayyyyyyy, congratulations. I'm still waiting and still worry about my case number. Hope I can have my interview in Australia. Did your case get transfer to TSC during your process?

Thanks

Thread from 2013 is now closed.  The most recent poster can post the query in the Embassy/Consulate or Europe/Eurasia forum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
