need a timeline translation...

I'm brand spanking new here, haven't filed anything as of yet. My finace and I are just researching EVERYTHING before we start the process. Wanna make sure all our ducks are in a row, etc. It's been extremely helpful so far just reading other people's experiences. However, some of the terminoligy is lost on me. I notice a lot in people's timelines where they put 'Touched'. Can't for the life of me figure out what it means. Could anyone fill me in? I'm sure this won't be my last question. So thanks in advance to all who help.

When you register online with uscis and your case status date changes to a newer date it means someone touched your file (had it in their hands). You need the case number off the NOA 1 to register on the uscis site.

when ever an ajudicator performs any type of work on your case ... you are 'touched' and you will a date change with your online status. you can register at the site once you have your NOA1 # (also located on the back of your cancelled check). some people are:

*never touched and approved

*never touched and

RFE

'd

*touched once and then approved

*touched several times and approved

*touched several times and

RFE

'd

see the pattern here?? unfortunately, there is no way that anyone here on VJ can tell you if you case will or will not be touched and how many times.

It doesn't really mean anything... it's just something else for the #######-retentive types to keep track of! It means that somebody somewhere did SOMETHING to your file, but there's no way to know what. There's been some speculation that it just means it was shuffled from pile A to pile B and back again.

The only way to know if you've been 'touched' or not, is to register your file on the USCIS website and to ask them to send you email updates. It's not compulsory and you'll be approved just fine without it - I use Firefox and it's not compatible with their portfolio management program so I couldn't do it - I just went and manually checked my status every few weeks to see if the message had been changed.

Hi all,

One more question

After sending my K1 package to TSC

I recieve Notice Type: Receipt Notice

So is Reciept Notice = NOA1

(This reciept notice has a Reciept Number, Case type, Recieved date, notice date etc info)

Also, I registered with the USCIS email notification

this is my profile so far:

1. Package I129F mailed on Dec 15th, 2005

2. Recieved Date: Dec 20th, 2005

3. Notice Date: Dec 23rd, 2005

4. Now on my account online it says: Last Updated: Dec 29th, 2005

So does #4 means, my case was "Touched" ones?

Please make me understand...
