I've seen contrasting threads on this matter, so forgive me if this has already been answered. I arrived on a K-1, filed in late June, responded to an RFE which was received on 7th August.

I know that without an EAD, I am unable to work for an employer as I don't have a SSN, and I'll be unable to submit an I-9 form. No arguments from me there.

I have read, however, that I am allowed to work for myself as long as I have an ITIN number and can therefore report income and file/submit taxes.

This is not a big job - simply, I would like to become a food vendor at an upcoming two-day craft fair. Would putting the whole thing in my wife's name be acceptable? (I'm still living off her income, owing to the lack of employment etc.)

Is there an official word on this?
