when do I file AP?

Hi all! I need some help.

Reading through the threads, I saw that there is really no pattern for the approvals of AOS. We are planning on going back home and have a church wedding in April or July 07 and I am not confident that we will be approved in time.

That being the case, do I apply for the AP at the same time that I file the AOS or wait till I get a NOA1 for the AOS and then file the AP?

Do I check one trip or more than one trip for question #7 of I-131? Can anyone post a sample of the separate sheet of paper that asks for an explanation?

Thanks in advance. :)

You should apply for AP with your AOS packet, just in case. I wouldn't leave it personally if you definitely need to travel in the next 12 months. Worst case scenario, you're out a few bucks if you apply for AP now.

hello there!

i think you should include it on your AOS packet.

i dont know for sure coz i havent filled one but you said you're planning to travel so i guess you should apply for it with your AOS since we have no idea when you will get your green card.

goodluck and GOD BLESS!!!

If you have definite plans to return and you are unsure if the AOS will be approved in time, then file for AP at the same time. I will tell you that the administration of the USCIS does not make a lot of sense. We applied for AP, AOS and of course the EAD because of the truly unknown processing times of the USCIS. My wife received her travel document and work permit three weeks before her green card interview. We got her green card two weeks later. So, weigh your options carefully. You might just need to file for AOS and forget the other things.

Thank you all!

1HappyGuy, did you pick MORE THAN ONE TRIP? And did you attach a separate sheet for the explanation?
