Not the cause of the problem, no. I think responsible gun owners generally keep their guns out of reach of people who shouldn't have them, though.

I'm so tired of reading about kids who 'find' guns in their homes that are loaded and left out for them to grab.

There was one on CNN this morning. 3 year old boy shot himself in the head because someone left a gun somewhere that he could get it.

Just because people are legally able to own a gun doesn't mean they should if they can't even practice responsible gun safety.

Which is why I am against some people having a gun. If you don't have the mental competency to ensure a 3 year old can't get to your weapon, you don't need to be packing.

agree but how do you root those people out without affecting the others.

No possible way to do that

Sometimes the "good" have to make sacrifices for the benefit of society as a whole.

No man is an island unto himself (JD)

That is the type of logic that gun lovers simply can't comprehend. Good people never sacrifice anything. Arm everyone and hope for the best.

That sounds like commie talk. Who is JD? Johnny Depp?

There has to be something. These folks should never be allowed a firearm. One accidental death when you leave a gun unattended is too many.

Yet the person that leaves their keys in the ignition is never held legally responsible for the car being stolen. What if the car thief uses the car in bank robbery, or kills someone driving the stolen car drunk? Should the person who left their keys in the car be responsible for those crimes?

They are liable.

But also one killing of a law abding gun owner by a criminal with a gun is too many

So should we also ditch the 4th amnd and allow the police to search homes at will..? After all good could sacrifice that right to help out the common good?

No, but there is no reason that any part of the constitution can't be examined, debated and changed to conform with the changes in society. To think what was written over 200 years ago was meant to hold true today doesn't bode to well for one's level of intelligence.
