113 deaths in six years. That's just in Hialeah, FL (population 230K). And in that locale, these deaths represent only the damage caused in mass shootings that have been perpetrated by what the NRA and it's minions generally tout as "law abiding gun owners". Some law abiding gun owners they are causing this much carnage.

sorry I think that is nation wide, but why would an anti gun person let facts get in the way. The whole original article was full of lies and misrepresentations.

You think 113 deaths in 6 years could possibly be a nationwide statistic? With that kind of logic, I don't think there's much chance of facts getting in the way.

Telling someone they did not read something properly is not a personal attack. If it is, it's said 50 times a day here. So no big deal.

It's not a big deal, because you did it. People are killed everyday does that make it ok ?

and

You were wrong., the sentence clearly was constructed to be interpreted the way I did. Did he mean something else, I am sure he did. I am not stupidfor reading it the way I did, and your personal attacks have grown old.

Maybe it's time you grew up and started accepting responsibility for your own actions. You are one of the biggest agitators on VJ, but always run back to...who me...Show me where I said that.

It is a nationwide statistic. They are only talking about shootings involving concealed carrry permit holders.

Gunmen with concealed carry permits have been responsible for at least 25 mass shootings since 2007, claiming at least 113 victims when last weekend's Hialeah shooting is included, according to data we have compiled at the Violence Policy Center.

The fact is the guy underwent 7 hours of training

He also underwent a rigorous back ground check that took many weeks

What else would you propose we mandate for Gun Owners

I thought you were a big proponent of back ground checks as a way to stop gun crime.

Three hours of training - I provided the link earlier. And that rigorous background check that took many weeks in FL is actually instant by the means of a toll free call. Unless you're saying that the NRA doesn't know how a gun purchase works in the state of Florida. There is a three day waiting period from the time of the purchase to the time of taking possession of the firearm. But none of that amounts to weeks or the 90 days you referred to earlier. Those time frames you pulled out of your behind. Lastly, this guy having been a concealed carry permit holder, he did not have to undergo any background check or any waiting period of any kind in the state of FL to acquire a handgun.

PURCHASE AND POSSESSION

No state permit is required to possess or purchase a rifle, shotgun or handgun. It is unlawful for any convicted felon to have in his or her care, custody, control, or possession any firearm or to carry a concealed weapon unless his civil rights have been restored.

It is unlawful for the following persons to own, possess or use any firearm: drug addicts, alcoholics, mental incompetents, and vagrants.

A person may not have in his or her care, custody, possession, or control any firearm or ammunition if the person has been issued a final injunction that is currently in force and effect, restraining that person from committing acts of domestic violence.

It is unlawful to sell, give, barter, lend or transfer a firearm or other weapon other than an ordinary pocketknife to a minor less than the age of 18 without his parent’s permission, or to any person of unsound mind.

It is unlawful for any dealer to sell or transfer any firearm, pistol, Springfield rifle or other repeating rifle to a minor.

A minor less than 18 years of age may not possess a firearm, other than an unloaded firearm at his home, unless engaged in lawful activities.

No licensed gun dealer, manufacturer or importer shall sell or deliver any firearm to another person until he has obtained a completed form from the potential buyer or transferee and received approval from the Department of Law Enforcement by means of a toll-free telephone call. The Department of Law Enforcement shall destroy records of approval and non-approval within 48 hours after its response. The fee for the instant check shall be $8.00. Exempt from the instant check are licensed dealers, manufacturers, importers, collectors, persons with a concealed carrying license, law enforcement, correctional and correctional probation officers.

Excluding weekends and legal holidays, there is a three-day waiting period to purchase a handgun from a retail establishment. Exempt from the waiting period are concealed weapons permit holders and those trading in another handgun.

 Wow. This is something special.

People (including you) have told me countless times that I read something wrong. I didn't realize this kind of tantrum was the standard reaction. I'll know better for next time.

I wasn't wrong. The sentence was constructed in an obvious way. I'm sorry you were the one who got confused. We all have off days.

Once again you are wrong..The Back ground check in FL for CC is not instant..Current a back log of about 90 days. Here-let me pull a link out of my butt also. In addition to the back ground check the applicant has to be finger printed so that hey can be run thru the FBI database..

Yes instant from a phone call indeed...

Orlando wait time for concealed weapons license longer than rest of state

Funny, the data you linked from the violence policy center has 516 deaths attributed to CCW's since 2007.That's incomplete data from only 32 states, and not including Hialeah.

Well, like Hersch said, we don't need to let facts get in the way.

Definition of agitator (n)

Bing Dictionary

ag·i·ta·tor
[ ájji tàytər ]
  1. supporter of cause: somebody who attempts to arouse feeling about something, especially a political cause.

NB, based on this definition of the word agitator, I'd say you are right. Penny is one of the biggest agitators on VJ, she certainly gets people thinking about political issues.
