Visitor visas are harder to get once a spousal visa is underway, for obvious reasons.

The visitor visa applicant will need to show that the visa will be used for the purposes of tourism only, and that they will return to their home country after their trip. They will need to show strong ties to home (a job, a home, family etc.). This can be hard to do when the applicant has a spousal visa in process for the explicit purpose of eventually becoming an immigrant.

Always allowed to try, though.

I read several posts about this topic some people their visitor visa got approved and others denied. Seems like it depends if its your lucky day or not. Any recent approvals/danials of visitor visas? I would like to hear your story.

It's not about luck. It's about convincing evidence.

Whoa! I think you are confused on the k1 and cr1 paths.... You cannot start a k1 as an engaged couple, get married and just switch to a cr1 ... You have to either file for a k1, once approved, your fiancé enters the USA UNMARRIED and get married in the USA within 90 days.... OR ...... You marry and file for the cr1 .... You CANNOT do both...

I would review the guides....

10/14/2000 - Met Aboard a Cruise ship

06/14/2003 - Married Savona Italy

I-130

03/21/2009 - I-130 Mailed to Chicago lockbox

11-30-09: GOT GREEN CARD in mail!!!!!!

Citizenship Process;

1/11/2013: Mailed N400 to Dallas Texas

3/11/2013: interview.. Approved

4/4/2013. : Oath! Now a U.S. citizen!

That's what I thought as well probably not worth to give it a try.

getting a visitor visa from Jordan without VERY strong ties to the country is just about impossible. You can;t do a k-1 and switch to a cr1..it;s one or the other. Study the guides

In AP for 6 months? That doesn't help. Good luck hope you hear something soon. I think I will call the embassy and try to talk to someone.

slam

i applied for visitor visa after seding my i130 i got approved but they put me on AP its been 6 months and no answer yet

I applied for and was turned down two times for a visitors visa- and in both interviews was strongly encouraged to file for family visa--

It is our intention to retire abroad- and in all of my wisdom felt that a visitors visa was MORE applicable--

have learned over the last couple of years that what is often logical is not the law when it comes to immigration.

I would think that a visitors visa is next to impossible to get approved when you have family ties to the USA or a USA citizen-- sad as it appears you are guilty of breaking immigration law until proven innocent and they wont give you a chance to prove you are innocent- (IE respecting visa expiration dates)

It is all about the financial responsibility and the affidavit of support- (in my humble opinion)
