Hey guys. I don't know who has had experience with this but I rli need help...my ead was sent to my about 2 months ago and usps lost it n up to this point has done nothing about it saying that they r not responsible unless it was stolen...ok fine that was only the ead so I let that one slide since our greencard interview was coming up. I got approved for my greencard and usps lost it again!!!!!!!! Can u believe that? ??? Now I'm saying that the only way I could get a replacement for free is if the card somehow gets back to immigration as undelivered. I doubt that will happen. I need my greencard asap so I can start my life. Who can I talk to to get results??? Wat is a higher authority for the post office that I can report them to??? Helpppppppp

I don't remember when I got my GC but don't they send it registered mail with tracking or something?

Customers who receive notices of approval can contact USCIS’s Customer Service Center at 800-375-5283 to request tracking information for their documents. USCIS customer service representatives will provide customers with their USPS tracking number and current USPS delivery status.

I think you have a mail delivery problem at your house/apartment. Have you talked to your mailman and your local post office. Is your name on the mailbox?

My name isn't on our mailbox and I still got all of our stuff, I was worried about it but I couldn't physically put my name on there! haha.

Yeah, sometimes it's fine, but in certain areas they have different rules.

Apartment complexes are different. A lot of them refuse to deliver mail unless your name is on the card inside the mailbox. Same with my PO Box. I had to ensure my name (and my maiden name) was on the PO Box information. Some places this isn't a big deal but it seems for the OP it might be.

There is a tracking number (if you signed up for email alerts it will be in that email, otherwise it should be online on the "Case status" page). Check the tracking to find out where it was delivered (and whether it was simply returned to sender).

I certainly would not have "ignored" the EAD issue knowing it could result in a GC issue as well. Did you receive all your other USCIS mailings?

That's what I said, pretty much (in bold).

Yep pretty much :) i should also mention that if it was incorrectly delivered and it turns out to be the OP's fault (bad address) then he needs to pay for a replacement. If it turns out it was USCIS error somehow (typo on the address) and he can prove it, then replaced without fee.

Tracking is the first port of call though. Find out if it was delivered to your address. If you live in an apartment complex you may need to check with management (though that's usually useless).

if it turns out that USCIS mailed it to the correct address but USPS screwed up, then you'll mostly likely STILL need to pay for the replacement. USCIS did their job.

USPS returned my greencard to USCIS as undeliverable - I think because my name wasn't on the mailbox. Weirdly, USPS had no problem dropping my EAD in that same mailbox 3 weeks before. I called USCIS when it was overdue and when they got it back, they just sent it out again, no problem.

Ok here's the thing guys. Yess my name is on the mailbox. I recieved allll other documents from uscis just fine. I recieved my noa1, my biometrics appointment letter, my interview appointment letter n even last week I recieved the approved I-130 and also my welcome to America letter! Yess I had tracking on the greencard. I live in mount Vernon ny and the mail came to the mount vernon post office and was outt for delivery. Then tracking said 'delivery status not updated'. So I went to the post office to see wat was going on n they confirmed that they recieved the package n can't seem to find it! So its suspicious that I got all my regular mails but the important docs went missing. Got me thinking about identity theft. N btw I reported the ead issue to uscis and I was told that they don't give replacement eads n that I would have to reapply and pay the fee so that's why I didn't reapply. N I filed a report with usps and they said that they r not 'responsible' for the lost of mail unless it was insured. Imagine that

Mine isn't undeliverable. They just can't find it

I suggest you go here: http://www.uspsoig.gov/ and report it.

I would put in a claim for lost mail as well.

In the meantime you can make an INFOPASS and get an I-551 (GC) stamp in your passport.

I reported it with the inspectors office today and I got a case number n all. Thats the same ppl I reported the ead with. Idk bcuz after two months of 'investigating' they simply just said that they apologise for the lost and that I should contact immigration. Crazy. N yess I guess ill have to make an infopass. I wonder if I get the stamp can I use that to get a ss card?? Bcuz that's the most pressing issue. I rli need to start working

Yes you can get a SS card based on the stamp.
