Wondering my chances in getting a tourist visa for my gf

I agree it is tough to get a tourist visa in the Philippines but it is not impossible. Still, every application is evaluated on a case-to-case basis and if you do not prove strong ties then you are likely to be denied. From my understanding of how B2 visas are handed down in the PI, in addition to strong ties, an applicant that has previous history of leaving the country and returning has a higher chance of getting approved. If your gf has travelled elsewhere (preferably to countries that require visas- Australia, Japan, Europe for example) then it is highly possible that she'll be issued a B2. Even short travels to non-visa countries around SEA, like Hong Kong, SG, Malaysia, Indonesia or Thailand, could help.

I worked in Makati for 5 years. It can get pretty smoggy and dirty but it is central and they have a lot of nice hotels around there that you can probably stay at. Keep us posted and good luck.

I would say chances are slim especially if family is her only Pi tie.

You will never know unless you try though.

If you feel the Phillipines is "unsafe" then your best bet if her tourist visa is denied is probably to meet in a third country.

Thank you so much for the replies everybody. I will most definitely keep everyone posted and up to date.... I am thinking that just to make things easier I will just go see her next year. I will just stay in a hotel the whole time as suggested by others. This also gives me a year to get in my most top physical shape so in a way this may be for the better :) Thanks everyone and I will most certainly keep everyone updated on my situation.

2013-08-30 (Day 18) Received Biometrics appointment letter in the mail.

2013-09-17 (Day 25) biometrics appointment day @2pm Detriot

2013-09-25 (Day 33) received text and email , I485 changed to testing and interview

2013-10-02 (Day 40) received text message and email @7am about my interview date

2013-10-04 (Day 42) Received hard copy interview letter in the mail

Wow buy a ticket, hop on a plane and don't be scared. You can always stay in Manila or go to her province. I have been there 1/2 dozen times. Where is she from? You can buy her a one way ticket and have her fly up and meet you in Manila. Check PAL airlines for flights. Do some more research wow it's fun going to the PI. What an adventure no visa needed for stays under 21 days.

No. Only citizens from certain countries are able to visit the US visa-free.
