My review of my medical at Dr. Seiden's office in Toronto.

When I booked my appt. over the phone I told the receptionist that I would be flying into Toronto for the medical at 9am, and wanted the appt late morning. She told me to get there anytime between 10am and 11am. I thought it was odd that she did not give me a set appt time. When I emailed to confirm my appt a week prior she told me to "try to be there before 10:30am". I flew Porter into City Center airport and arrived at 9am. I took the ferry to the mainland and the shuttle to downtown. Traffic was brutal and it took about 30 mins to get downtown to the drop off spot. It was close to 10am by the time I got to downtown. I grabbed a cab and headed to Dr. Seiden's office. I got there just in time!

I pressed the elevator to take to the 14th floor and entered into "Seiden Health"

The receptionist was very nice and asked for my appointment letter. I did not have an official appointment letter, so I gave her the email I received with Packet 4 information. Make sure that this letter/email shows your Montreal Case Number, not your appointment booking! She then told me to go wait in the waiting room (second room on your right, once you go through the door). She handed me a sealed envelope to take with me when I went for the chest xray.

I waited for a short moment in the waiting room with other people there for their immigration medicals and some just for regular doctor appointments. A nurse called me and I went to a room where a lady had me fill out consents, take my basic information, took my $300.00 and $50.00 for the courier (Canadian dollars). She asked for my passport pictures, immunization record, and my passport. She bundled it all together, trimmed up my passport pics and attached them to the various forms (one for blood work, one for x-ray, one for examination) She gave me a receipt for the payment and a receipt for the courier. Another nurse came to get me and did my blood pressure, height and weight. She then took a vial of blood.

She then escorted me down the hall to Dr.Malcolm office where she told me to remove everything but my bra and put the paper gown on. I waited a bit, and then a nurse came in and told me to lay down and she "was just gunna take a peek". She literally just slightly lifted the gown and "peeked" for like half a second. No big deal at all. I was kinda confused if I was supposed to put my legs in the stirrups on the table, like you would in a PAP test, I did not, and it was fine. She then left and told me I could put my underwear back on for the doctor.

Dr. Malcolm came in and did what appeared to be an routine form for him, and breezed the questions very quickly. Questions were things such as do you have heart disease, diabetes, mental illness, HIV, Hanson's disease, he then explained to me what Hanson's disease was. He was a very nice man. He looked in my ears, and throat, listened to my chest, heart, felt around my abdomen, felt my neck and along my sinuses on my face. He recorded the information from my immunization card onto the form he was filling out. He said everything looked good in regards to the vaccinations, and I did not need to have anything updated. (I did go to my family doctor to ensure everything was up to date prior to this medical)

He gave me back my passport, and immunization record and told me we were all done there. He told me to go talk to reception. Once there she asked me if the doctor asked for more information, I said NO. She handed me a map on how to get to Rosedale radiology on Sherbourne St. It was right around the corner and super easy to find. I waited the longest here, almost an hour to get this done. Once they take you to the back they tell you to take your shirt and bra off and put on the gown. Once the technician calls you in, he gives you step by step instructions on what to do. Was very easy and quick once you are called in. After that, you are DONE! All in all took about 2 hours total.

My appt was on a Wednesday and they told me I would have my medical results couriered to my by Monday or Tuesday the following week via FedEx.
