Missed K1 Interview in Manila. HELP!!

Hi everyone,

Okay, quite nervous here. Please bear with me and my questions.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, my Fiance missed her K1 interview appointment date.

I called the Embassy immediately, and explained the situation. They asked me for a reason, I told them, and the rep seemed satisfied and said she will make a note of it. She was very kind.

I was then told, that she will "expedite" our case for a reschedule. She informed me to wait for notification via e-mail, and also told me she has no idea when this e-mail will arrive. This was two days ago, and today being Saturday in the Phil, I know I will not receive anything today.

My questions please:

  1. She completed her medical almost 2 weeks ago. Everything was fine. Since the embassy has her medical information already, will it actually expire? I have seen in print, that it would expire in 30 days, therefore she may have to attend medical all over again, depending on our new date.
  1. I have logged into her profile online, with ustraveldocs.com/ph. On the "Provide Feedback" tab, our case is now listed as "No Show Proceedure". "Status: NEW". If anyone has had experience with this, does this actually mean we are now back in process to reschedule? Just a waiting game at this point again?
  1. Also in the same profile, on the Schedule an appointment tab, it will let me go as far as the payment page. When I try to enter the Interview payment receipt number, it says the number is invalid. Once we are okay to reschedule again, will the same receipt number be accepted again? Would I be able to choose our date again, or would it be assigned for us?
  1. Are there any other numbers I should be calling today here in the US, to assist in this process? Unfortunately, I have become distrusting with how the Embassy handles some of their procedures. I have already called the NVC, and they informed me that they cannot help.

Any help and experience here, will be greatly appreciated. Although the Embassy rep was very helpful, it did not seem that she could answer all of my questions. Obviously, we cannot screw this up again. We have an American citizen child (US passport, CRBA) that resides with my fiance in the Phil, and this unfortunate event has left us both stressing beyond belief.....

Please post any actions I must take further, anyone's experience with this, what happened, timelines to get it rectified, etc. MUCH appreciated people.

The NVC cannot assist you and your case and is in the hands of the Philippine Goverment and that Embassy.

The Medical should be valid for 6 months if they allow it.

You were wise to inform them immediately. Your information was updated by them.

I don't think they will babysit the matter of setting a new appointment though. You or Finacee must.

Again, who ever told you the Medical is only good for 30 days is mis-informed.

Good luck

First off give the embassy a week for the email to arrive, if nothing make a inquiry after that. The embassy may do the scheduling themselves so again be patient for the email.

If they allow you to reschedule after missing the interview you should not have to pay another fee.

As said NVC has nothing to do with this process, everything is in the hands of USEM.

You just need to be patient.

The NVC cannot assist you and your case and is in the hands of the Philippine Goverment and that Embassy.

Good luck

Medical is good for a year. Visa is only good for 6 months from the medical date. So in 6 months from the medical date it will be do over time just the same.

Thanks Hank, I appreciate the input. To clarify, you are saying that the Embassy "may" schedule the date themselves? We were able to do it the first time, and pick our own dates of course. Either way is fine with us......I hope we can get it picked up soon enough. The holding pattern is making us pretty freaked out.

We had a similar situation, whereas I had to call the Embassy in the morning of our interview and postpone. Since we didn't have a back up date, I asked if we could reschedule online and was told that we could. When we tried to schedule, our receipt number was invalid, so I emailed them. I was told that we needed to send the jpeg of the receipt . That took a while, but we did. Eventually I called and was asked if my fiancee received the Letter of Eligibility. Eventually my fiancee produced it and told me she received it. Upon calling back I was told that the EMbassy would "escalate" our case and we would receive notice when we could reschedule. We did this, and I noticed that there is a cancellation link if you need to change the date (you are allowed this only once).

I would suggest calling in order to really get things rolling.

Kambingaso, thank you very much for the reply.

Yes.....this is exactly where we are at this moment. Receipt is invalid, as I have tried to reschedule. As I stated above, the Embassy rep told us that she would expedite the rescheduling for us and to wait for the email. I understand that is has only been a few days since the missed appointment, but I have grown Leary of how the Embassy handles things. I haven't had much luck with calling the customer service number that is posted on the embassy web site in the past.

When I am inside my Fiance's profile online, after clicking on the "Provide Feedback" tab to the left, this is now what I see...

You have the following open case: Case ID Case-2013- 08-16-######## Reason No Show Procedure Status New Comments

Does this look familiar?

The first email I received said, "Case Closed," so it really freaked me out. We didn't have the "No Show" label. Must have ticked off the official or something. Hopefully it'll work out. Took us over the weekend, and then there are always the Filipino holidays to consider! Good luck, and I hope you get a hold of them real soon.
